High blood pressure - HELP!!

so I had my pre-op assessment yesterday in preparation for my op next Saturday and apparently my blood pressure is too high. It currently stands at 185/97 and the nurse said if it's this high next week the probability of having the op is very small. So does anyone know how to reduce blood pressure considerably in a small amount of time?:(

You need to see your GP as soon as possible to see if they can help.

GP GP GP !!

I got my GP to double my dose a few months back when my BP was measured at 208 / 105 at the Whittington!

It has since come down to around 157 / 93.

My GP said as long as the first figure is lower than 160 or only just around 160 they will normally operate .... I was getting nervous that I had to get my BP down to totally "normal" levels.

1. emergency visit to your GP

2. Drink LOTS and LOTS of water

3. NO salt

4. Keep calm and carry on :p :p *

* seriously try NOT to stress out about it as that (obviously) won't help your BP

Also when you go back to the hospital make sure you are not "rushed" or flustered when they take your BP -- give yourself extra time on your journey in -- take it SLOW -- and take at least 30 mins to sit down and calm down / get your pulse and BP down to a nice, soothe, calm resting level before you get your BP checked. :p

Best wishes.

and when you've seen GP and checked it's okay start walking-just a little bit a few times a day. It really makes a difference quickly, but you need to check it is okay with the doc first.

well went to Dr's and my BP had reduced right down to 140/80 which was pretty ok. Think I was just stressed with the pre-op, although have got 2 more appointments before the actual op to keep a check. Have also started going to the gym again and walking a bit more 1st 3lbs lost since pre-op diet :)
