Hi everyone, my surgery is on Tuesday Morning & I have not prepared at all :( my bags are not packed and I am unsure of what I need to take with me such as peppermint tea??
Any advise on what to take or expect would be greatly appreciated!!

Sorry I cannot help as I didnt stay in over night or anything x

I stayed overnight - you need toiletries, books/ipad etc. pjs underwear slippers etc. You will be on a drip all night and only allowed to suck ice until the following morning when you can have a drink to check everything is ok. you will be sore so go home and rest and take things at your pace do things slowly and you will recover well. I am 6 weeks post op and its like it never happened and I have to remind myself I have a band sometimes as I forget. Good Luck in your journey and the forum will always help you. Peppermint tea helps with the wind. x

I am doing good ( I dont mind u asking) I have lost 109lbs since being banded in July 2010.

I did stay in overnight but wasn't on a drip

You don't need much as you will be doing a lot of sleeping after the op and probably going home fairly early the next day. Peppermint tea will be good for when your at home though.

Good luck x

I stayed in overnight too and after returning to the room after recovery was removed from the drip, certainly didn't stay on it overnight. I was also then encouraged to drink water and tea during the evening, certainly not just limited to ice cubes.

Things I took with me
> nightshirt
> lounge trousers
> toiletries
> hair brush
> Crocs (dont wear slippers!)
> a pillow for travelling home with (made the car journey much easier!)
> lip balm.

Some people suggest things such as peppermint tea, windeze, dry mouth sprays etc etc etc I didn't bother and wouldn't have needed any of it. Your provider should have given you a list of what you will need or should take?

As for the loss, I've just hit 12 weeks post op and have lost 60lbs (4 stone 4lbs) :)
