I went for a free nhs health check yesterday. Went in 5ft 8 inches and came out half an hour later 5ft 6 3/4 inches ... I didn't realise I would start shrinking so young and so quickly

Blimey!! We can add height shrinkage to the list then! Were you measured at the same place as your original measurement pre-op? Oh no, I see you were THG. It's like weighing scales in height form! x

It might not be accurate Michelle, I remember my height being taken by a nurse who stood no higher than my bust. She measured me at 5ft 4 1/2, how she came to that conclusion when she couldn't see the top of my head I don't know lol.

Hmmm I was I believed 5ft 5"

When I was measured by the MDT I was 5ft 4"

Pre op assessment 5ft 3"? :)

But even funnier in the matter of a week I had put on 5kg :( three days later just prior to my op I weighed in again I had not only lost the 5kg but another 3kg! LOL but what is 8kg between friends :)

Accuracy is obviously not a strong point :)

Mmmmm ... The nurse who did my checkup first of all told me I was 5 ft 2 inches ... I had to get her to do her maths again to get me up to 5ft 6 3/4 ... Otherwise that would have been confirmation that at 46 years of age ... I had indeed turned into my mother! Argghhhh:rolleyes:

I was told at my local doctors I was 5'7 but when i went for my 1st app at derby they said I was 5'5 I don't understand it, I'm still pre op... I was abit gutted if I'm honest lol

I have grown an inch post op
I was always around 5ft 3"
I am now around 5ft 4"
My lovely brother said it was because the fat had fallen off my body and slid under my feet LOL

Do you think the weight compresses our bodies I was 5'8 when I was 19 now 34 and 5'6 at my first appointment ???

Michelle has lost all of her weight though :D

I like your brothers thinking lamornamiss ;)

I 'think' that during the day you shrink - so you are taller in the morning than afternoon onwards!!??

When I as bigger I carried a lot of fluid in my feet and was a size seven, since losing some weight i have gone back down to a size 6 shoe and my feet have no excess fluid in them... that's what im putting my inch height shrinkage to lol xx

Roxyroo I see mr super is operating on you soon. He did my op. best choice I ever made to have my band (apart from have my daughter and marry my husband obviously ) ... Best of luck :)

Thank you Flutterby. I'm a mixture of emotions at the mo, excited, nervous. I just want to get to the other side of the op then ill know ill be ok.

Did you have yours at Dolan Park?x

Yes I did. Are you stopping overnight? Where are you travelling from?

I was looked after very well. Just be prepared for an early (7am) exit the next morning as they prepare for the next intake of patients. Any questions you have, throw them at me ;) x

I had discharge at 10am, but only because my taxi driver was late. I have to admit, it was quite pleasant that he was late (and that they knew he would be late in advance)!

Maybe you will be lucky and have a later discharge too. I was lucky not to have such a long journey as you as the hospitals only about twenty miles from where I live. Sussex is a lot more of a hike, so make sure you get a bottle of water from the hospital to sip on your way home.
