45 stone woman has died

So glad i didnt get to that point what a waste of a life , food is just as bad as other addictions out there and takes lifes if its taken to extreams so sad .

How very sad for her children and her husband! I am wondering why she was given a gastric band and not a bypass which would surely have been a quicker weight loss solution?

So very sad......... RIP x

I think her family should be ashamed of themselves, they took food in to her knowing she was on a strict diet, if she had been an alcoholic would they have given her alcohol!! I dont care how much pressure she would have put them under to sneak in food, if it were my mum there is no way I would have done it, I dont care how desperate she would have been, they have played a part in her death whether they like it or not and they will have to live with that. Also it really bugged me how she was slating the NHS for leaving her to die, from what I see they did all they could, this woman didn't want to help herself or take responsibility for her own life and took the easy option of blaming everyone else except herself!!

I agree Phatmomma, I wondered too why she was given a band and not a bypass!

So sad :( and £30K for a gastric band ?

jaffacake i agree!!! i actually will go as far to say its disgusting that her family brought it in! and they should feel deeply ashamed, who brings in buckets of chicken in a hospital anyway??..... i think maybe she should have been sectioned so they could have restricted her better ( as they prob would have had more powers to check relatives bags to see if food is being smuggled in, people with anorexia are sectioned, why not if its on the other end of the scale?) as i feel if its got that bad then there is huge serious mental and physcological problem, when your told you will die its usually a huge wakeup call, and this hasnt even helped her, therefore i think its gone more than just a physical problem... its very very sad, such a waste of a life and at such a young age...

i hope i havent offended anyone here,it s just my views on it

xxxxx

Well her family basically killed her if you want the blunt truth of it. I feel sorry for her kids and hope for their sakes they can piece some sort of normal life together after this... but surely the adults involved knew what they were doing was wrong, in spite of having help from the medical staff and NHS which not all of us are fortunate to get as we know, they ignored the rules and guidelines given knowingly and somehow thought it wouldn't have any consequences??? . It's only going to make people more resentful to the majority of us who DO appreciate the help and WANT to get better.

Terrible waste of a life & what a gorgeous young woman at the time of her marriage... I can't work out how this situation was allowed to go on and on... weight is a 'real' problem for many, me included... but most of us want to try to help ourselves even if we have lived with it for years, we can succeed. I think that in this ladies case she was addicted to the point of suicide & could not help herself and apart from the old method of 'wiring the teeth ~ which sounds like a torture treatment to me'. It appears as though she couldn't restrain herself and I agree with Kelly. The family are going to have to live with this and it means another generation of kids will have enough baggage to hold them down in their life.... shame all round.... I would have thought that the only way that this lady could have lost weight realistically was to be supervised 24 x 7 in hospital (however unrealistic) but there is something about the desire to self destruct at times... awful story to read and very very sad.
Having a small frame and height myself... I feel crippled by carrying 19st around... there is no way I am going up and if this story doesn't motivate us to do something about it... I don't know what will.
Thank God I can hang on to you all on here!
Like I always say 'it's good to talk' and that's exactly what we are able to do.
Love you all, even if you do all live in my PC ~ 'my cyber support network where would I be without you all!'
