:cry:I am now 6 weeks post op and I want to scream, I have only lost 15lb in total and I am finding it so frustrating. Can anyone give me any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?

Hi,

I am sorry things are not working out as you had hoped, but, first I very much doubt you are doing anything wrong. I know it is so disappointing when your loss is slower than you expected and it is really hard to remain positive. Believe me, I know from experience how that feels, but it is just the way your body reacts to the trauma of the op and the weight you have already lost. It takes time for your body to catch up. Stick to what your team has told you to eat, get loads of fluids in if you can and please try to hang in there. HTH

Hi Mimsie

sorry your feeling so down. From my own experience and reading other threads on here it seems quiet common that weighloss directly after surgery can be slow. Our bodies have been through a major change and it seems to want to keep a hold of anything else we've got just in case something else happens.

Why don't you post what you've been eating/drinking.

Are you getting enough fluids in?

Are you eating enough protein?

How much did you loose before the op?

All these things can have a bearing on why your loss seems slow at the minute.

Hiya didnt want to read an run, mine slowed right down at op for a while and i to was worried, but like others have said post what ur eating and drinking, make sure you get lots of fluid tho. Try not to get tooo dishartened tho, weve all been there and are here for you:)

I would honestly think first are you eating enough? It is so common for newbies to eat too little early days as you don't really want any food. What stage are you at? If you are still in sloppy/puree are you eating 6-8 small meals per day? If you have progressed to solids are you eating 3 meals with 1-2 snacks?

Chances are also that you have just slowed down so your body can rest. Try not to put so much pressure on yourself. Drink loads of fluids, make sure to eat exactly what your team says and make sure you are eating enough. Your weight will shift, I promise, I have been on this forum for 18 months and the weight ALWAYS shifts, okay? Good, now here is a hug:hug99: and my best wishes!

Try not to weigh yourself, I constantly don't see the results I want on the scales but know the weight is coming off by my clothes and the nice comments I get.

Also remember your body is still healing and could be still swollen inside.

Be patient, it happens eventually.

Mimsie, keep your chin up, you had surgery just before me & our weight loss is similar, I think lots of people have offered some good advice, some of which I too will try.

I can't offer personal advice as i'm pre op! But i do know i've read a few of these posts and they all say the same. You need to drink plenty and try and eat more... Also the starvation mode for the body won't stay forever, eventually the thin person inside of you will realise you are not starving and will use your reserves.... Keep the faith, put the scales away and take your measurements if you haven't already....

Mimsie you will go to the ball (and keep your glass slippers x)

Hi sweetie. First, don't panic. PG et al have given good advice already, an early slowdown or stall is not uncommon. Just make sure you eat as much as you can, it is always difficult getting enough in at this stage. Make sure your fluids are going in too. It is a difficult juggling act between fluids and meals/snacks. Give it time and you will start losing again. xx

Hi Mimsie,
Just dropping by to say Hi, and to let you know we are thinking of you, dont feel you have to get through this stall on your own, it is so very hard but I hope you are feeling a bit better about it all.

Thank you all so much for your kind and supportive words. Dawn I do feel a little more positive today, I am trying to eat and drink more. Getting a Wii fit next week as I really enjoy doing that!!!

Glad your feeling better. I've been out and purchased Just Dance for my wii. Not tried it yet as I'm in the middle of moving and surrounded by boxes, but can't wait to try it out!

Thanks Gail, please let me know how you get on wth the new dance programme, may go for that myself if it's any good!!!!
