Morning, 10 days post op now & 11lbs!!!!! Surely thats too much?
But i've got scared to eat, i should be on the mushy food stage but i'm sure i'm not eating enough. It says 6 tablespoons but i'm only getting thru about 6 teaspoons! I'm not feeling any restriction (well don't think so)
Also i feel really tired & crap, i'm guessing because nothing is fuelling me?!
Any advice?
Oh & not got my 1st appointment with hospital till 11th july!!!!! Is that not too long?

If it were me, I would get some more sustenance down asap.

You will not heal properly if you starve!! Guidelines are just that , guides...not hard set for everyone because everyone is different so how can they apply to everyone rigidly?
Contact your team to keep them updated but also follow your common sense as well and get some decent nutrients down. Maybe have a couple slimfasts or something added to what you are having now.
You don't want to make yourself ill!
You are probably losing water weight to drop that much , plus of course the body is in shock due to the surgery itself.
Weight loss , real weight loss...is going to happen after recovery when things have settled down.
When your internal healing is done and you are eating more you might even get a slight temporary regain as your body is currently starving.
It's quite normal and when you start to eat regular healthy foods you should feel so much better and then the journey begins properly.

Thanks Neen, i just feel quite lost with all this, i read the leaflet the hospital gave me, but its just a big blur (if that makes sense!)
I tried some macaroni cheese the other day (leaflet said i could) but after a few teaspoons and it going cold i got fed up & threw it away.
Not sure if its the fear of things getting stuck or not, just feel very wary of it!
I know its not a race to lose the weight, as i'm amazed i've lost this much to be honest so soon & also realise that as soon as i do start eating again then its going to go back on. The weight thing isn't the issue really just me being able to eat without being worried!!!

Please try not to worry about eating, if you are on mushy stage now I think it's anything that you can squash with the back of a spoon/fork.
As long as you take it steady and make sure everything you put in your mouth is chewed to mush before you swallow you should be just fine!
Mash potato with mince etc but make sure you do eat as you won't lose weight if you slow your metabolism to a crawl by barely having any food daily.
I suggested the slimfast as a booster as I assume you can drink freely so it's a good way to bulk up your intake.
Main thing is to get more in so you feel better in yourself and heal nicely x

It might be feeling tight when you eat because of the internal swelling from the op, it's all a bit sensitive down there still I expect.
I know it's easy for me to say this to you, but I do remember feeling nervous about eating for the first time after mine and I just wanted to reassure you x

Thank you, i do appreciate your advice!! I will get some slimfast shakes today & see if they may boost me, just feeling very blurgh!! if you know what i mean!
I will try & eat a bit more at meal times, its the waiting a minute i get frustrated with & then just give up...lol, amazing isn't it 2 weeks ago i was stuffing anything & everything in & now i'm terrified of a bit of mash potato

Everybody loses weight differently, where as you have lost 11lbs ( well done btw) some might only lose 2/3 lbs, don't knock it hun xxx

The reason your probably feeling crap and tired is because there is not enough energy, are you drinking enough fluids ( as there was no mention of this in this post) fluids are very important for healing and keeping you hydrated and this can also make u feel like crap too, esp if your not drinking enough.

All hospitals work under different guidelines, what is your first appointment for ??? Post op check? First fill?? Most ( not all) people have their post op/first fill within the first 6-8 weeks, but again you will have too check with your provider as they all work too different aspects. - Wishing you all the best and very well done on your weight loss journey xxx

Honestly a bit of mash is not going to hurt you! xxx Soft scrambled egg, porridge, Fish pie, sheperds pie etc
As the swelling goes more and more you probably won't feel much restriction at all.

If it helps, my experience was that when I came off mushies I was suprised how much I could eat but then eating denser foods even with an empty band , you do have a tiny degree of restriction ..then when the fills start, provided you eat foods that work well with your band, you should feel a difference.
When you're done with the mushie stage, have a look at Mazza's food tips (there's a link to it under my signature) as that is a fab source of info as to what foods help you feel fuller and lose weight x

All good advice from neen and BD as usual i can only echo what they have said. Your not alone i guess all of us have experienced being wary of eating i know i did especially going from liquid to mush as it was taking me one and a half hours to drink a pint of milk initially lol when all the swelling settles you will see a difference just try and relax about it give yourself time to heal. as neen says try difference foods to see what works well for you its all trial and error hun xx
