I had my bypass on Saturday woop! And actually came home the next day, which was a nice surprise. Trying to remember to drink my fluids which is tough as I have zero interest in food. But I've had some milk today and watered down soup, just easing myself in! Feeling okay, a bit stiff like I've pulled a muscle. But not needed the painkillers today apart from a bit of sugar free calpol this morning (why would the hospital send me home yesterday with sugary paracetamol liquid?! I was terrified last night after I'd had a spoonful!).

So day 2, going ok. Will definitely improve my liquid intake as the days go on and my protein intake but so far so good!!

Well done, hope your recovery is smooth. Most important id fluids right now sip sip sip. I'm 19 days post bypass a f it does get easier getting fluids in. X

Thank you, well done to you too! :)

I'm not finding it hard drinking, just remembering and being conscious of no gulps etc. I don't want to push myself to an uncomfortable stage if I can help it. I've read some amazing diaries on here which have really helped me in the run up to the op, so nothing's been unexpected thus far. This forum has been such a help :)

Thank you both :)

Sent a reply before but looks like it didn't send...? Hopefully this one will work! I'm not overly technological.

Time for a peppermint tea methinks. Have a good night all!

Congratulations.

Welcome to the losers bench, glad to hear you are recovering well. It is 3 months tomorrow since my bypass and I have had a really trouble free recovery.

Keep coming back here, you will find loads of help and support

Thanks all!!

Well day 4 post op and feeling pretty good. Was concerned as I hadn't 'been' since Saturday but after chugging Movicol and Senokot for the past 2 days all is well. Movicol is so vile though I'm going to try anything else on the planet to get me through! I wish I had alternative options for the lansoprazole fast tabs as they are so disgusting they make me feel ill, I dread taking them. I might try and split them and swallow instead. Apart from the Enoxaparin I'm not taking any other meds which I'm happy with (my surgeon said to start vitamins after 2 weeks).

Pain is all but gone now and I'm able to do light housework and sit on the floor when my cat demands a cuddle :)

Think I had a small dumping experience today... Tried half a low fat yoghurt after a bit of cream of mushroom soup and went a bit dizzy which I didn't enjoy. But I'd got asda value yoghurt thinking it would be thinner with less bits and then checked the sugar content which was surprisingly high! So I've ordered me some old faithful muller lights which are a lower % sugars.

Not drinking enough still but every day my liquid is increasing, and today for the first time I had four nutritious meals (milk, tomato soup, mushroom soup, Horlicks made with milk) which is the best I've done so far, though the portions are probably still too small. But every day it gets better! Next will try walking round the block but it's just too hot at the moment. Going to start cooking and pureeing soon for stage two when I go back to work! Woop!

Well done oodles, welcome to the losers bench. :)

Keep on sipping, it helps with the toilet thing :D

Sounds like you're doing great!! Don't worry too much about your portions/food intake at this stage just get in what you can. It will increase as you go through the stages. Really important to get your liquid in though :)
Keep up the great work x

Thanks Susie, had a cheeky weigh in this morning - lost 10lb since the op on Saturday and 30lb since my preassessment (incl all those 'last meals' before LSD), So excited!! Got lots to lose so long road ahead but loving it so far!

One question - I've seen across the forums people talking about NSV but I haven't found a definition... What does that stand for? I get it's a new thing you've realised you can do since losing weight but just not clear what the letters stand for. Please could someone enlighten me? Ta :)

NSV stands for Non scale victory - things like being able to cross your legs again or go on a carnival ride etc
