Any experience with vitamin d deficiency and weightloss post bypass during pregnancy?

Hi all, haven't been on here for a while. I am 23 months post bypass now, and nearly 14 weeks pregnant. Due to nausea I have lost 5 kg so far, and put 1 on again, so loss is 4 kg in the last 10 weeks. My bloodtest has come back as low on vit d. (normal level is around 50 I think, optimal is aound 75 and I'm around 32?) I am seeing my gp on Friday to get a prescription for some drops/tabs for this. In the meantime is there anybody who can relate to this, can give any advice? Also, I am a vegetarian, which makes it more complicated I think? At least I haven't been feeling nauseous anymore for the last few days, lol!

Sorry pressed send by accident!
A really high number of people are deficient because we don't get too much sun or get out that much as a nation.
I don't know if that's a really low level but I take the drops you put on your tongue. As I understand it most people could do with taking a supplement, however yours must be lower than most to need a prescription xx

Since having the bypass I have been taking my supplements religiously, I take 2 calcium vit d daily, and on top of that 1 pregnacare which also has vit d, and it still isn't enough. I've never worried about pregnancy like this before, just want everything with baby to be ok.

Hey hun, my baby is 4.5 months now but during the pregnancy (I fell pregnant 6 months out) I suffered with malnutrition and lost over 3 stone throughout. I didn't actually gain any weight at all. Baby weighed 7lb 14oz, I carried alot of water and she was late lol

I was told to take 2x pregnacare plus calcium, vit D and iron tablets. Eat lots of protein and add milk powder to drinks to bulk up. I was also advised to drink gold top milk, even single cream if I could tolerate it!
It'll def be harder being a veggie - lots of eggs, nuts and cheese!

Thanks! I'm seeing obstetrician Thursday and go Friday, so will ask them about doubling up pregnacare. Since finding out yesterday I have reluctantly started eating eggs again, have to do what's best for baby.

Of course :) It may screw your head up though. First completely overhauling your entire diet to fit with bypass restrictions and then going against everything you were ever taught.

I lived on sweets, crisps and popcorn throughout tri 1 & 2 and in tri 3 was able to devour 2 whole steaks with no problems - scary.

Just don't be afraid to talk to someone if it does get too much. It's hard to cope with mentally :) xXx
