Hiya - do we have anyone who is still diabetic post op?

I am not and have not been diagnosed with diabetes, but all my hospital notes have type 2? on them. My bloody sugar levels have been ***** since I got pregnant, only going abouve 4 when I have lucozade. Usually between 2.5 and 3.5 and I feel so grotty with it.
I am eating 5-7 times a day just to try and keep bloods up, protein has been kind of none existant since I have been told to eat carbs each meal. I am eating when Im not hungry and sometimes making myself ill just to keep bloods about 2.5. Yesterdays readings ranged from 1.9 and 2.5 and would not raise without lots of sugar.
Can anyone help?? The Doctor at the maternity hospital couldnt and has referred me to a dietician even though I see my bariatric dietician?!
I feel so grotty most of the time and hate living on sugar and carbs! I reckon Ive put a stone on and it is NOT baby weight...its carb and sugar weight!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Lol x

Hi there, once a diabetic always a diabetic.

WLS is not a cure but can ease the symptoms so they are under control.

Have you asked your doctor about GLUCAGON, it's an injection to help with low blood sugars?

You need to keep pursuing this, see another doctor at the practice if you have to.

Hello love,

There can be no substitute for an overview with a diabetic Specialist when it comes to your problem.

Sooner rather than later.

I am diabetic and regularly have low hypo's.

I keep my glucagon injecting kit in the fridge at all times, but there is no substitute for sitting down and working each step out with the diabetic clinic.

Do hope you can soon feel better and achieve some important stability.

Take good care and much love xxx

hi i was type 2 diabetic b4 my op. But have now been told i am no longer a diabetic been taken off all medication and the diabetic register. So in my case its not once a diabetic always a diabetic. but everyone is different good luckx

Hiya guys - thanks for your responses. I know that I need professional help with keeping it under control, but the diabetic midwife has referred me to see the diabetologist and he was no help. He has advised me to see a dietician (who I already have seen on numerous occasions) and blames me not eating enough or regularly enough to keep the hypos under control. I cannot physically eat ANY more than I am doing. I am eating so much and putting so much weight on that I will end us as big as I was pre-op. He tells me to eat carbs that are low GI...I was already doing that.
His only suggestion was to wait 2 weeks to see a diabetic dietician....(which I already was doing) and 'cope' drinking 2-3 bottles of lucozade to survive each day to me is not a healthy option and Im at a loss - hence me posting to see if anyone can suggest me doing something different to stop going so low.
It drops each time I eat.

Im type II diabetic and although the bypass has resolved my issues with HIGH blood sugars, I struggle with regular lows. I can literally go low hourly if I dont do anything to prevent it. I started to have a little something to eat every three hours and it seems to have prevented them from happening, I still get some jittery feelings but I dont get the all encompassing lows. It DOES slow down my weight loss mind you, which really irritates me, but whats the point of being all slim and lovely if your blood sugar has gone so low that...well...!!!
They told me at the pre-conception diabetes clinic that I will likely know when Im pregnant because my diabetes would likely go a bit haywire.
I dont know what to suggest other than trying to let go of the weight issue and just concentrating on the baby, better you are healthy for him/her and a bit heavier than unwell, slim and without him/her, I know its a hard thing but Im sure you wont put all the weight back on and you can work on losing any you do gain after baby is born.
Anyway, good luck xx
