'8 Golden Rules' by Paul O'Brien

I have just watched this on Youtube and some of what he said really amazed me

it also made me realise that Im starving becase I am in the yellow zone of hunger
I have very little restriction and finally understand until I have sufficient fluid in the band I will indeed be hungry :cry:

Some of what he says does sound very harsh..he says we cannot eat between meals at all, and in some cases only need two meals per day..OMG!!!!

The meal sizes should be that of a ramekin..Dear God this is scary my Chihuahuas eat more than that and they are not fat....

So I conclude the more I learn the more I know I cannot wait for my next fill..roll on the 4th December!!
 
I have read online somewhere another surgeon's response to these. While he or she didn't take issue with the basics, portion size was one of the things I recall them questioning.
 
I saw someone on here talking about this. watched it and he made things very clear for me I would advise others to watch him on you tube ,its a big long and split up because of this but stick with it
 
Val, his rules in how the band words are as they are, but with there are lots of huge questions over what they suggest with regards to portion sizes etc. The article that sarahrob has posted above really picks up on the things. More importantly, our own providers give us guidelines in portion sizes and this is what we need to be following and stick too - I know that you're frustrated right now with the minimal loss, but a loss is still a loss and it will happen, it WILL come off, just hang in there and try the variety of things - the 70/70, even the SW plan to find what works for you. :)

I could not survive on half a cup of food
Im 5' 10" for Gods sake..I need some nourishment :)
 
Haha, no problem, when I did my research I read everything I could get my hands on, watched all the youtube videos, read people's blogs, worried myself silly then calmed down and decided to concentrate on what THG tell me to do. I couldn't live on two ramekins of food a day for long, that's for sure! x
 
I bought his book as recommended by my surgeon who trained under Prof O'Brien in Australia. The Prof is one of the pioneers of banding and helped develop the bands as they are today.

There is light though. In the book the question of wine is discussed and he says it's perfectly acceptable to drink a small glass of red wine a day! Go Prof!
