are bypassers allowed neurofen?

I wouldn't take it.
Its a NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs)
They can cause ulcers and bleeding of the stomach

I'm pretty sure that if you only take it occasionally and on a full stomach then its ok but double check with your surgeon/team.

I was told no!

No we cant have anti inflammatory they can irritate the pouch and cause ulcers. for pain relief my gp has given me separate codein so if paracetamol isnt strong enough i can add them in.
today after my endrometial ablution i was given codydramol because i couldnt take the voltrol they would usually prescribe.

i was also told no x

I have not had my op yet but on the take home list of meds it also says you can take neurofen melts for pain relief after op.
If you do take them then make sure you eat as any NSAIDS should not be taken on an empty stomach.

The best thing though is to check with your own team as we often hear conflicting advice.

I took some NSAIDS last week perscribed by my GP (I didn't realise what they were) I took them with food and still got a bad stomach pain

Hi Lotsabeefy, I just had my bypass 10 days ago, and for my pain control they gave me neurofen melts and child strength liquid, also calpol melts because of the need to stay away from solid pills. If you are on any other meds I would recommend a pill crusher from boots or Holland and Barrett. Ask your GP for soluble versions of anything if you can. I had no probs so far. Take care and Good Luck, Bob xx

Thanks guys for all your input...I have had the worst tooth abscess evver my cheek and neck swelled to the size of a small planet, i tried just co-codamol but it didnt help at all...eventually i did take some ibuprofen with food and the pain did decrease quite alot. I havent had any problems so far but will let you know if i do....thanks again xx
