Hi

I'm moving onto food from today - hooray!

I have just made a lentil curry for tea and made my OH some rice to go with it, what on earth do I have?

I'm really going to miss my rice :wave_cry:

Would be grateful for any suggestions on what to have, so far I have only come up with vegetables or mash

Cheers Maz x

What does rice / cous cous do please? have my op 2 weeks on Friday and just starting to get clued up in readiness x

I was told to avoid it until 3 months post op but also that I may never be able eat it. Thought it best to give up rather than suffer the consequences.

it all depends on your level of restriction, i used to be able to eat rice but now im at sweet spot i cant manage it no more as it quickly gathers in the band hole and causes a block, pasta does the same for me.

Hi Liz, they obviously told me to avoid it because eventually I will be at that level of restriction. Which is why I thought it was best to get used to going without from the start. Do love rice though

Woops sorry meant to ask you what sort of thing you have as alternatives?

i dont really have an alternative, i now for example will just have some curry in a bowl no rice or nan bread, i can manage a few prawn crackers but tend to avoid them as they are high fat.

its the same for the pasta, i just have the spag bol on its own or you can eat it on a jacket potato which is nice with a light sprinkle of grated cheese on top.
