Band Flipped

:) Hi all,
Just to let u know i'm also a bander. I had my band (Barry - yes thats what i've named him) put in on 10th Nov 2009. My weight loss is slow I have the same problem as Blue Diamond (Julie) my band has flipped how i hav'nt i'll never know. I seen one of the surgeons in Aug and he said my band had slipped and would have to be replaced in another two years time. I've seen another surgeon in Oct and had a fill up to 7 mls been told i will have to see nurse in March 2011 for a check up. What keeps me going is the fact i lost two stone myself while on the waiting list to get my band. I have lost another two and a half stone which makes it four and a half stone in total over two year. I still have a long way to go and still think having the band was the best choice for me. I was slim for many years and started to comfort eat when my mam died suddenly of a heart attack the same week my toddler had to have a serious operation was the same week i buried her. I am now in a positive frame of mind and my toddler is now a beautiful healthy teenager. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel.
A big thanks to this forum and to u all, and thanks for reading this.

Hi and well done for remaining positive x

Im confused - sorry! has your band slipped or the port flipped or is it both? Bluediamonds port needed repositioning which she had done as a day case but if your band needs replacing how come it will be in 2 years.

Sorry for all the questions x

Hope you can get the slippage issue clarified and dealt with soon as 2 years seems a crazy time to wait?
Let us know what happens when you speak to the nurse x
As for the losing weight side, us banders are trying to keep each other going daily and sharing advice and mingling on the links under my signature x
Hopefully if you read the links (they are long so brace yourself :) ) you will fancy joining us and find some useful info and support xxxxxx
Well done on all you have achieved, you have done great in difficult times x

Hello there

Firstly I would like to say well done on your weight loss (even those problems have arisen) and secondly well done for remaining upbeat and positive, I really do believe that this helps immensely......I agree with Neen If indeed your band has slipped why an earth are they making u wait?? I thought this was dangerous and painful for a bander ( soz if I am wrong, but thats what I always been told and believe) another thing if ur port has flipped how are they able to fill it? Coz I couldnt have my band filled until the port had been revised (as it was upside down) - and tbh I wouldnt certainly wait until March 2011 until I saw someone because if you look at it logically, A) if the band has slipped it wont be doing its job & B) if the port has flipped you wouldnt be able to get a fill so again the band wouldnt be able to provide proper restriction (unless u already have it to start wiv) Good luck on what ever happens and it gets sorted a.s.a.p. - Kind regards - Julie xx
