band isn't working

Hi Everyone.
Have any members found that a Gastic Band didn't work for them? And what are the signs that it hasn't worked?

mines not working because its been damaged, are you working with it correcrtly? are you eating solid foods rather than soft sloppy stuff that the band will let through, its basically down to re educating your self with the correct food choices and learning how to deal with restriction properly, in what way isnt it working for you ? could you please explain and the maybe we can help you a little more...thanks....from Liz x

I am eating soilds and doing what the hospital told me to do but it has been 10 months now and i am losing very little weight. I have put weight on since i had the op.
I don't know what else i can do.:cry:

ok how much saline is in your band and what size is your band? have they checked your band and tubing for leaks ?

I don't know what size band i have in, they did say it was an 8ml band but then they said they didn't know. I have had 7ml put into the band since the op. No i haven't had it checked.

ok maybe you need to ask for an xray fill just to determine if its faulty or not x

if its not faulty then you either need more fill, or your experiencing pouching wich would show up on xray a consultation with a proper bariatric dietician may also be beneficial, i hope you get sorted soon xxx

Good advice from Liz already, some people (eg me) need the band very full in order for it to work as well. An xray fill is a really good idea.

I have had both fills done under x-rayand everything seemed to be ok. I am seeing the doctor on friday and the diettician in a couple of weeks.

when they do an xray do they turn you on your side?? if not get them to as I hadnt been having this and just had face on but now my band is open and this was only found by the xray on my sides. Just an idea. Good luck to you
