Band op on Monday - no contact from provider

Is this normal? I haven't heard anything from them, not even to take the balance owed. It says in the blurb that they will contact 5 working days before the op. I'm a bit loathe to contact them and part with my hard earned cash before I have to. But on the other hand a bit perturbed as thought the care would be a little better. It's HW by the way.

If they've not contacted you, then you need to contact them - I was actually advised that I needed to contact them to pay the balance but just told that it had to be done a certain amount of days before surgery.

But if they don't have the money, then surgery won't proceed. I would also advise them that you've not heard anything - you should have received your hospital info etc by now too. That information usually comes from the hospital direct rather than HW so its possible that there has been an error from the hospital or that its been mislaid in post.

Hi TK, Thanks for you prompt response. I've had all of the blurb and completed the forms and sent them back. I've got my pre-op assessment tomorrow. In the letter they sent it says that they will contact you beforehand to give you log in details for their forum. I guess I'd better call them, I'm just a bit disappointed that they haven't been in touch and hope it isn't a sign of things to come.

No its not at all, but I did have to call them for the log in details for the forum (altho this is a much better resource than theirs!)

There's probably a genuine reason why its not happened as they are normally spot on :)

Thanks, I'll call them this afternoon. Thought it was strange.

BTW - do you get some kind of notification of new emails? I find it difficult to find threads that I've posted on or threads that are relevant.

you can subscribe to the thread, if you go the the very top of the thread above your post, there are some drop down menus. Cluck on thread tools, then click subscribe to thread, then opens window for you to subscribe.

You can then go to all of your subscribed threads via your USER CP :)

Also if you want to find other posts click on your username at top of your post to get drop done menu and select find more posts, will rake you to posts you've made.

Or go to your profile go to the statistic tab, then select all posts made or threads started :)

Three ways to find your posts. You can also do forum searches but it's long-winded

How did you get on calling them?

Thanks for the tips. I'm a bit new to this forum lark!

Funnily enough the nurse phoned me before I could phone her, I half thought they had read my post! Anyway, we had a chat and that was fine, she told me what to expect and I told her I'd better pay for it, LOL, so I did. No turning back now. I just hope that I'm one of the more successful banders! Thanks again.

I'm glad that she called - won't be long now Helski so hope you're doing ok!

Hi TK, I'm fine thanks. Absolutely terrified, but guess that's normal. Had the pre op check and all good there so here we go. Two more days until my life changes. Hopefully for the better. Thanks again.
