Banders- Top tips

The best tip I could advise anyone - Follow your providers rules/guidelines.

Portion control use a childs plate and bowl, chew properly and between each mouth full put down your knife & fork to ensure that your not eating too quickly and this avoids any unpleasant discomfort.

No drinking with meals until at least 30 mins after the meal has been finished with as it can have 2 negitive effects, it will either push the food through the band allowing you to eat more and defeat the object of feeling full from less or have no pathway down because of the food being in the pouch and will back up and vomiting will occur.

Thats my top tips from when i used to be a bander x

Also "do not rely" on a tight band to lose weight, listen to your pouch and learn to use the restriction correctly x

I thought I'd start a thread where we can list anything that helps our journey.

I use childrens cutlery and have found that Poundland sell a set that a stainless steel that aren't too childish, and they're only £1 xx

this is a good one for bypasses too i have been using chilldrens cutlery and i makes me feel like im having more to eat :D

I already put this on a similar thread but here's mine

Plan!!
Follow a calorie controlled healthy diet, plan a treat day,
Move more every day, take one day at a time.
Buy a smaller size to try on once a week.
Don't struggle on if you need a fill, go get sorted !
Write down what you eat
Find something to keep you busy,
plan ahead for danger times so you have a healthy snack ready to avoid getting too hungry
Don't expect to go on auto pilot and slim without any effort
effort DOES get rewarded and we have a fantastic tool if we are prepared to do our part xxxx
Get support, either through a slimming club, diet buddy or online with us... it really helps to get through the tough times xx

Patience!

I have bought a small square side plate (asda) & a small square rice bowl (the Range) in prep for band both look really good like mini grown stuff lol x

On this pre-diet I have to have slimfast also I know I will have to have it once I have had the op done. Use to do slimfast diet a long time ago & remembered a tip :- put it in the freezer till it's solid then remove it let's it start to defrost till it's still hard but getting slushy then add loads of ice, lovely :) especially the latte one a bit like something you would have at costa coffee lol xx

Thanks a good tip with the powder Neen I'm being a bit lazy at the mo with the already done ones lol x

I use 250 mls of semi milk (adds 30 cals per serving)
choc slimfast powder
a table spoon of cocoa powder (12 cals)
and about a dozen ice cubes
All in the jug blender and it comes out very thick, I do sometimes have a spoon for it.
It is about 272 cals for two pints of "shake" and you are getting water in with adding a nice lot of extra ice.

If you put the ice in a bit at a time till you get it the right thickness that helps it from getting too much like sorbet as well x

Yum yum so far tried forest fruits & latte got banana & strawberry still to have mind you lived on strawberry years ago when I did the diet x
