I've had the urge to go for a bike ride, what the hells the matter with me? lol
Does anyone know a good bike that is suitable for heavy weight? I'm 18 stone at the mo, but on the way down all the time and dont want a bike to break under me
o gosh, on a adult bike i think your weight is ok? dont you hunni ive never really thought about it i would say your ok... as after all some blokes are fit and weigh more than that and they go on bikes xx
im going on a bike ride in Aug with my eldest daughter (shes 14) but have told her i need to user her bike cos it has suspension she can have her old one haha
good question OP. I've being considering getting a bike but at 22 stone am too embarrassed to ask some young fit sporty sales assistant about weight restrictions.
I do wish they'd make them with comfier saddles though.
I had my bike using the 'cycle to work' scheme. When i went the shop the lovely man could see the size i was and also my OH was having a bike. Himself asked if he was too big and the bloke said no! When he first went on his bike he weighed around 17st 11lbs...
I cant wait to get on mine but not for another 6 weeks as my provider suggested, plus i want to drop another couple of stone before i get on it. I'm currently weighing in at 18st 12lbs and am confident my bike would take it, it's my dignity i'm worrying about losing
Good luck daftmoo, and remember you can always tell them you've had a wls and want a good bike to help burn the weight off xx
You'll be fine at 18 stone - don't worry about it.
Oh and you can get a "Big Bum Seat" on line. They are about £20 and are wide and have thick padding and extra supsension. A GOD send believe me .... I luuurrrvvveee my big bum seat - best invention ever!
I went to my local bike shop and the owner sold me a claud butler urban 200. I am 26 stone and he said the bike will have no problem carrying my weight.
i also have a claude butler bike and its brill i have been on it recently and i was weighing 21stone plus ( if people dont like the look of me on a bike then i say dont look)
But i must say my bike is so comfy to ride i love it and the seats comfy x
A decent bike is amazingly strong. Saying that, I had a Toys 'R' Us £100 special for a few months from when I was about 20 stone and that was fine too.
Now, at just over 15 stone, I ride my 7 year old sons bike to school rather than push it to meet him
i've got a mongoose tyax elite 2008, absolutely fine, the bloke i bought it from was selling them and similar to the Leeds Rhino's rugby league players, i appreciate they're in good shape, but still heavy boys
