Does anyone know what the highest/lowest bmi is to be considered/refused surgery is?

If you look at theNICE guidelines most of them are a BMI of 40+

As for higher levels Igave been put forward and my BMI is 68

Each pct varies, for instance my husband was going to have a gastric bypass and his bmi was around 36/37 but he had a comorbidity and at the time our pct had very lax criteria... They have changed it this year i believe

Mine was 31 at my first consultation but I do have high blood pressure so that may have contributed to his decision to do the band procedure x

Just edited my details etc and i notice it says the bmi is 60.5 but i was told by the surgeon after he weighed me that my bmi is 62.5???



I will ask when i go for my appt on Thursday, thank you. I havent been weighed for a while but i think my bmi will be about 63 so im guessing with the other health pb, not all to do with my weight..i have a decent shot............

My PCT, Surrey was BMI of 50+ with no co-morbidities or 45+ with so I just scrapped through !

Blackpool was 40............ I think theyv'e changed it now, at one point they were giving them out like smarties

Northampton is 45 with commodities and 50 with out!
I only just got in as I have BMI of 50 :0)))
