im not on soft foods until tmro hun... but a lot of poeple say to be careful with rice as it swells and fils you up quick... hopesomeone comes along soon who knows x

Too early for rice as it may swell and stick in your tum,it will hurt like hell!Watch out for too spicy food too.

just have the curry without the rice hun xx

I've just had a Chinese dish from morrisons and instead of the usual rice tried a tin of blue dragon mixed chinese veg mixed in with it.didnt feel like I was weight watching one bit! mindset change for me in that I thought if you have Chinese you have to have rice!!! Not much of an expert with curries tho!

I'm three years out and still only have a couple of table spoons of rice, curry is fine.

i have been having a small amount of rice - i had it with cassarol sauce and tonight i had a table spoon of it with smooshed red tai curry - not had any problems with it at all - i think you just have to make sure its well cooked so its soggy x

i think with rice it can be easy to eat too much of it... but i guess if you just put a teaspoon with your meal then your only going to eat what you have x

Cooked rice has already absorbed all the liquid it can, otherwise it would keep expanding until it came out of the boiling water :D:D. Physics dictate that once it's reached it's maximum rehydrated size in the pan it won't swell any bigger.

Rice is best taken in very small quantities post op simply because our digestion system was not designed to cope with rice. We are designed to eat foods that don't require cooking, so we don't have the perfect enzymes needed to break down rice. It also has a high sugar content when cooked, not good for us ;) So if a full sized stomach struggles to digest rice then our pouches have an even harder job of breaking it down. However it has nothing to do with imaginary swelling of the rice that's already been in water for twenty minutes or so

Yep thats the one pguy, ice been told as long as I blend you can have most things, my usual diet presently is
1 Muller corner yoghurt for breakfast or 1 weetabix
Lunch is a satchet of oats so simple porridge
Dinner is 3 scrambled eggs and one 125g (max) tin of mackeral
Supper if hungry another Muller yoghurt
Everyone had curry last night, but I decided not to risk it in the end, stomach aunt aint half been gurgling away! I have the sheet, can't stand the fortimel though

glad you didnt have the rice..maybe too soon for that xx

I've tried rice twice only 1 tablespoon each time but I've been fine, my auntie is 4 mths post op n still struggles tho I mentioned this to the dietician at the hospital n she suggested having it just cooked before it goes sticky so hopefully it wont get stuck on its way down x

if you eat the rice with some sweet and sour sauce or some curry then it should go down ok.... but dont take my word for it as i was scared to try baked beans!!! so not tried rice xx

yeh I had the rice with chicken curry not tried it dry xx

i think rice would be like mash.... not to have it dry lol
