Ad my op on Monday and getting really bored with boring soups and yoghurts, when do people normally start going onto puréed food like mashed potato and more interesting foods

It was 2 weeks of liquids for me followed by 4 weeks of puréed.
Basically its' whatever your diet sheet says it should be :) Don't try jumping the gun or you'll run the chance of not succeeding.

Seems different hospitals/surgeons give different advice. I think there should be standard advice myself......after all if two people have had the same op then why could patient 2 ruin their op somehow by eating like patient 1 who is doing fine?

Everyone is different anyway and some people manage solids with no problem far quicker than others......I think its down to the individual person in the long run and how their body reacts.

each hospital is different, some even allow people to go straight onto solids..i had to do 3 weeks liquids then 2 weeks of puree which im onto now xx

Why not try different kinds of soups? Maybe try types you never had before, or do one day European, one day Asian etc. also, why not splurge on things like fancy bisques? You're not eating much so they become better value for money :D

As already said..each hospital/medical group have different guidelines and you should stick to the guidlelines you have been given... for me i was on liquids for 10 days after op, then 4 weeks of pureed, 6 weeks of soft foods then at week 12 i was on normal foods.
the liquids and pureed is a bit tedius and boring... but hun..its so your insides heal at the right pace. you will be eating again before you know it... but please stick to your guidelines... if you are unsure of what they are, they ring your biatric team. xx

How are you getting on 1 week post op Heather (fellow 21st May sleeve buddy!)

I got told to make sure I stuck to the liquid diet and puree as per my instructions to give the sleeve as much time as possible to heal properly so as bored as you are keep it up!!

I am good now, my dietician said I can go on puréed food which I did last night, I may make some mashed potato tonight, are u on puréed food yet and if so what u eating???

No sadly not, my plan was 4 week liquids, 4 week purée then 4 week soft foods so
I've still for another 2 1/2 weeks of liquids to go yawn! Luckily I'm not too bothered about food right now so just knocking back the protein shakes etc. I am really looking forward to the purée section the idea of mash or Philly just seems very yum right now!x

im the same heather badly wanting food right now!! so bored of soup and yoghurt. Whats bisques thump? Never heard of that. Ive got 1 more week of liquids, YAWN :'(

I stocked up on Asda soup powders, I quite like the spicy parsnip one. I've been drinking mainly milk, slimfast shakes and nestle build up shakes. I'm not too worried about the exact composition of the things I drink right now, just try to get as close to 1000 calories as I can while keeping it as healthy and nutritious as I can. It's more about healing than weightloss right now. If it's liquid and I can keep it down, it's fair game :D Also, I've had the band but I think the recovery period is pretty much the same?

Hi thump, are they their cup a soups & if so do you fortify them with milk powder?, thanks so much for your help it's much appreciated & good luck with a slimmer trimmer you x
