Cant believe the timing...!

Hi all, well I'm used to bad timing but really didn't need this right now! My nan was taken into hospital on Friday, she's 89 and has been poorly for a while, this in itself is bad for her obviously but my parents are having to rush up the motorway to see how she is everyday. They are supposed to be having my kids whilst in hosp so poises a problem for me! They'v said will still do it though.

Then last night my son developed a high temp and ended up having a febrile convulsion (he's nearly 2) and was taken to hospital. Once he'd come round and they were happy they sent him back out again. He's still poorly today and my partner as now taken him to the out of ours doc. On top of that I have lovely head cold today and feel rubbish.

I'm supposed to be at the hospital at 7am tomorrow but just dont know what to do now. Feeling like I cant go ahead with op if my son is still poorly himself??

Just as I'd got myself all positive and syked up for the op as well!

i understand your dilema, but your husband will cope with your son while your in hospital and your parents are there to help as well, still go for the operation, its only 1-2 days away from home and im sure your hubby will be quite capable of looking after your son.

Oh Zorica I am so sorry to hear about your nan and your son.
Your nan bless her is in the right place so will be looked after.
Febrile convulsions are more common than you think in young children. I know they are frightening and I know how worried you must be that it might happen again.
Just make sure you are giving him his calpol regularly and if his temperature is still up, try tepid sponging him with luke warm water and a sponge/cloth this will help bring the temp down. Also do not wrap him in lots of covers as this increases temp. I suppose you know all this already, but just trying to help in case you dont.
As a last resort a fan in his room to lower the environmental temp will help.
I a sure hubby will be fine with him, and mum and dad will be there for him.
It would be such a shame to let your op date go, and yes I know how anxious you must feel about that as well, and not feeling 100% yourself doesnt help
Dont do anything rash, see how your son is this evening, keep doing all the things to keep temp down, and remember little ones get better just a quickly as they became ill.
I will keep my fingers crossed that he improves for you, and hope you will be able to go ahead with your procedure

Love Jay xx

Hi Zorcia - hope your nan gets well soon. Don't panic i am sure a solution will through something up and you will have your op and become a member of the losers bench.

Sending you hugs with fairy dust to help with a solution and stay positive x

Well thats it for my op tomorrow. My son is still very poorly and so have had to ring the hospital and cancel the op tomorrow. Cant believe it, but I have to but him first and he needs me fit and well with him, looking like we'll be in the hospital tonight, just under different circumstances than I had thought.

Hi Zorica,
Sorry to hear about your problems. I hope everything will be ok. If you are near east london then i can help you take care of your son if you need someone. I live in between shadwell and limehouse. This op is very important to you and many of us here had to go through a lot of trouble just to get the funding. Just knock me if you need any help.

Bad luck phojay sorry the little on is still so poorly I understand why you want to be with him Sure it wont be long before they reschedule your op Hope your nan and your boy will be better soon
Look after yourself

Love Jay xx

Oh dear it is all terribly bad timing isn't it. I think though in this instance you just have to be strong. I am sure your son will be fine, being a parent myself I know how worrying it can be but hopefully the convulsions are just a result of a high temp and nothing more sinister. It must be upsetting to have to cancel your op but hopefully the hospital will be understanding when they reschedule you. Will keep my fingers crossed for you and hope things work out for you all. xx
