Carb counting questions??

Before I had my op the only way I could manage to lose weight well was to carb count, I was only having 20g of total carbs per day & it suited me & my medical conditions... the only problem was like anything I couldn't stick to it!

Post-op I have been trying to stick to a similar theme but I'm wondering of 20-30g per day is now too low? I have had moments of feeling dizzy & wobbly could this be down to lack of carbs or just post op'ness??

Those of you that low carb what do you aim for as daily carbs?

Carbs will never be my friend as even now post op I can feel the craving to have something that I shouldn't if I've had something higher in carbs. My dietician recommended rich tea biscuits as a good treat...... I can't do them as I feel like I want to dive into the bottom of the barrel, is that head or body craving or sheer habit??

I do feel like I'll always have to watch my carbs but can you be too low post op?/

Sorry waffling again!!!

I'm curious to know the answer to this one too. Since being on the milk diet (pre-op diet) I have craved carbs yet before then I was never one for eating carbs other than rice & occasional pasta.

Ditzee i have no idea, they reckon it's 2:1 protein:carbs so i thought? If thats the case and they want us on about 80g of protein then to my mathematical genius that would have us on 40g of carbs? I'm probably really wrong but then the last few weeks i've stopped trying to count protein and carbs and i've just tried to have more awareness of what goes in my mouth.

I had my surgery so as not to count points, have multi-coloured meal eating days ever again! I'm not naieve i figure eventually to get to goal or close i'll end up dieting or exercising like a whirling dervish, but until i am really struggling i'm only counting the 30 minutes before and after food when i can get the kettle on for a brew xxx

Hun i don't know the amount of carbs in weight i have what i tend to do most days is have Carbs for breakfast (cereal or porridge) then i leave em through out the day and go to bed with a slice of toast so i feel very full. xx

Sorry I cant help with the carb question, but have to agree with the rich tea biscuits, I cannot have them in the house and I know I would dunk the whole packet.......:eek::eek:

Its awful, i feel the same way......and i think we could get a full packet in!!

I can remember when I was young, my sister and I used to have a competition on how many we could dunk at one time without them flopping into the tea. It used to take about 3 or 4 packets to decide the winner..... LOL

I have had to practically cut carbs right out to go into ketosis for my surgery on Monday, i have to small lattes a day and whatever is in my 3 portions of veg, i have no bread, potatoes rice or pasta, i have foul tasting breath and can hardly poo but it will definately be worth it
