Celery question

StephieAck

I know Ive changed!
Does celery have some sort of effect on your metabolism or anything?
My weight has stuck for the longest time and none of my usual 'trick's to kick start it were working, so I took it that my weight loss had finished.
I then had a hankering for celery with low fat philly, so I started having it as a snack and within two weeks I was 6lbs down and other than dancing on the Kinect the only other change I made was the celery.
So Im now kind of curious whether it has some sort of effect on your metabolism or something similar.
Thanks
Steph xx

Would think its like cuecumber, only water

Ooohhhh thanks for that John. It would appear that it could well be the celery helping me out. I know that my usual tricks werent. My old trick was to have a daily probiotic, but that stopped working and upping my protein would make my loss only peak at 1lb, so to get a 3lb two weeks running was great and Im thanking the celery for it lol
Thanks xx

The bariatric nurse at my provider told me that celery and apricots are a good aid to weight loss, they are fibrous and slower to digest..

I can't stand celery unless its cooked...apricots now.....yum! I may try it!

Im with you Grace devils food! that and olives yuck.

Yes olives! :eek::flamingmad::9529::9529::9529:
I'm the only person in my family who HATES them!

Im with you on the olives and the cinnamon but I dont "mind" celery.......dont think I could eat loads of it though but I may try and eat a little bit a day if it helps, dont like apricots either :D XX

yeah I'm thinking I might try a little Dotty. My tastes have definitely changed since bypass so maybe I would like it now...with some low fat philly!

I used to be a real celery addict, but find it extremely hard to digest since my surgery. In fact, it often has me running to the loo. Shame, because it's yummy! x

i dont like celery either, but if it aids weight loss I could really get to like the stuff too

Celery is a wonder food, not only does it help weight loss but its got bundles of fibre and helps with constipation and also is a natural diuretic and can help fight lots of cancers, lowers the blood pressure, and an exerpt from the net reads:

Celery leaves has high content of vitamin A, whilst the stems are an excellent source of vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C with rich supplies of potassium, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sodium and plenty essential amino acids.
Nutrients in the fiber are released during juicing, aiding bowel movements. The natural organic sodium (salt) in celery is very safe for consumption, in fact is essential for the body. Even individuals who are salt-sensitive can safely take the sodium in celery, unlike table salt (iodised sodium) which is harmful for those with high blood pressure.

right thats it celery and lf philly from shops tomorrow

It's all very well being a wonder food but Celery comes under the marmite umbrella to me! You either love it or hate it, personally i hate it!

Lol.......I dont mind a bit of celery or marmite but that doesnt sound the best! ...................They do say , dont knock it till you try it though :D XX
