I agree and really feel for you. Why should you have to wait till you have a major illness before you can get help. Surely the op will prevent you getting them and save them money.

I know I am costing the NSH a small fortune with all the medication I'm on.

ive been checked out and all has come back fine..im going to write to the doctors to refer me for a sleep apnea test.

Acid reflux is also considered a comorbidity - it's quite dangerous because the stomach acid can damage the oesophagus. Zxx

acid reflux ????
some nights i wake up with really bad chest pains and a sour taste in my mouth i always assumed this was trapped wind or is it

i get pains in my ankles believe it or not they are slim and on two occassions in the last 8 weeks they have give way on me causing me to collapse

Just looking at the questionaire WLS consultant sent me.

Here are some of the things they asked if I had. Any problems with your back, Asthma, gall bladder, painful hips, knees, leakage from bladder and venous stasis disease..

Quick! Get it reported to your doctor! :giggle:

the doctor has wrote twice to the pct as he says i meet the criteria but its the pct that are saying nooooooo

If you go to the BOSPA site you can look up your PCTs criteria yourself (there's a link at the bottom of the page). That way you will be able to see who is right. Good luck. xx

A while back someone posted a big long list of defined co-morbidities, but I can't remember who. It might have been Caz or Serenity.

However, it depends on your PCT as to whether they follow the nice guidelines strictly or have their own defined co-morbidities.

I would ask them for their written policy on funding WLS and check it out. If it says that they follow NICE guidelines then you have grounds to appeal on the basis that you meet the criteria, and they can't set additional criteria if it's not in the policy.

with all the letters i have wrote i am so confussed as to who i need to write to now ,the whole process is a battle it would be great to go somewhere where they advice and help you through the process .
