Confused if Gastric bypass is key hole or not

watched fat surgeons the other week and watched a gastric bypass being done by key hole surgery.

Watching it now on fat doctors on youtube and they've just cut the guy open.

Can anyone explain?

As i have learnt by looking up things like yourself they can do A bypass either way, nowerdays they try and go for keywhole first.

They try and do key hole but do warn if there not able to for some reason they will have to change to open surgery xx

Mine was open due to my PCT not funding key hole at the hospital I was under.
If I had gone to another hospital they would have funded key hole
I found that fact out a week before my surgery

i only just found out that open is cheaper than keyhole and some areas just fund the cheaper... ie open.

If it helps l&D will always do keyhole as a first option.

My surgeon wanted to do keyhole as first option but I also signed for open surgery as problems were expected because of previous ops on my stomach areas!! Luckily I got the keyhole version x x

i was at charing cross hospital in London..i had keyhole.. .but was told if there were complications the would close me up and another surgeon would do open surgery another day xx
