I have been asking this question too I'm due bypass week tomorrow and a chest infection and cold just are not shifting. Going to docs later Dare not tell hospital yet!!
If you have a productive cough, you will have an increased anaesthetic risk.....and I soooo know you won't want to be postponed....but if you get a chest infection post op, or are a difficult extubation this could have big implications for your post op recovery.
