Cramp!

Has anyone suffered cramps in lower legs or feet since their bypass? Its not all the time but I never got these cramps at all before my surgery. I assume I'm lacking something like potassium or fluids.. but wondered what you guys thought. x

Yeah I did. My GP put it down to low sodium as I was getting plenty of potassium from the bananas I ate each day, coupled with dehydration in the early days until I upped it to three litres of water a day. Another thing it might be is the fact that you'll be more mobile now. I reckon though its most likely to be dehydration. Get it checked out though.

My husband gets these at night once he lays down. His doctor told him it is low sodium too ... he also does not drink enough (IMO) Hope you sort it soon, hun xx :)

Tonic water can help with leg cramps, it's the quinine in it.

I suffered with this and my GP advised me to start adding salt to my food, which goes against the usual healthy eating advice but it worked for me.

Sorry but i have not had this but i would speak to gp for advice. I hope they go away for you soon xx

Ive upped my fluids and started adding salt to meals see if that works. Had my first banana (since the op) today too. I will see my GP if it carries on, thanks everyone x
