Yiiiipppppeeee finally got my date, 29th jan. What is the best pre op diet to follow, I have been given one from hospital but hardly any choice, I'm sure I have seen different ones on here, any advice is muchly appreciated xx

I'm starting the streamline bariatric standard Milk diet on the 1st Jan. It is two weeks of 4 pints semi skimmed milk per day. Taken as coffees or shakes using sugar free flavours or syrups. A sugar free jelly and a bovril drink. Pretty boring but it works to shrink the liver which is the goal and it takes the thought and planning out of the equation !
Also I'm to take a good quality multi vit.

Please do as your provider advises as they will know you best :)

Have you added your surgery to the 'January surgery' list?
Please do and you'll find a few of us all in the same boat!

I'd imagine a loss on the milk diet. Lots of posts I've read suggest quite good losses :)

I'm going to actually weigh myself on day one and see. I'll take fatty humiliating photos and measure all over to be added Myfitnesspal.

I'm going to include the milk diet as the start of my new journey.

I'll let you know how I do!!!!

Brilliant news on the date :)

I know the pre op diet is a bind and limiting but your consultant has given you the one he wants you to do so best to do as he instructs xx

We wasn't given a choice at Salford hospital,I was given the very low fat diet to follow for 4 weeks by Dr Ammori to shrink the liver.
I'm glad I had that one to follow, not sure I could have done the milk one.

at birmingham there is a choice of 5 pre op diets not sure what ones they suggest for different weights etc to shrink the liver but im hoping when my time comes to do the milk one

I lost about a stone on the pre op diet :) 4 pints of semi skimmed milk, 1 sugar free jelly and one oxo drink a day. Plus other liquids. I was allowed sugar free fizzy and squash too. NO FOOD. Did that for 2 weeks. It was difficult but well worth it!
I would do that diet again given the choice.
