Dealing with Tiredness.

Hi gang!

I have read a lot of posts where people complain of being very tired post op. I am assuming this is down to the high protein, low card diets. I wondered how you all dealt with that?

I think it's due to the surgery and very very low Cals at the beginning. I was back to pre-op levels after a week. You just need to rest.

I'm pre-op so not sure. I have actually known people who feel more energetic in ketosis, so don't think high protein, low carb the cause of the tiredness.

In the immediate post-op period the liquid diet and recovery from surgery trauma are bound to leave you feeling tired and lacking in energy. I believe most tend to start feeling better and more energetic when they are able to eat real food. I am certainly hoping this is the case for me :)

Blimey, I'm obviously not one of the ones with more energy in ketosis! I'm in my third week of milk and yogurt, and I find myself dozing on the sofa when I get in from work each night. I know I'm ratty because I'm tired, but luckily I live alone so nobody else is getting it in the neck!

Actually its down you the anaesthetic and the trauma to the body. There's no avoiding it - it will just get better I'm afraid.

I think there are a few factors influencing your energy after surgery. You just have to stick it out... My energy levels are back to normal now.

I'm with Yvessa on this one, it's the anaesthetic and trauma to the body. I have had 3 general anaesthetics/operations and each time I have felt so, so tired for quite a few weeks afterwards. It does pass, we just need to be patient!
