Dizziness

Hi All

I know someone posted about this not long ago, but me and my fella are a little worried as I am experiencing dizziness everytime I get up. A minute ago I really couldn't see anything but black for about 5 seconds, followed by a disco ball effect for a further 10 seconds. The dizziness lasted about 30-40 seconds.
I have been looking up at this but I wondered if anyone else has suffered as Im a little worried about the 'not being able to see' issue.
Has anyone spoken to their surgeons etc about this?

Thanks for help and hopefully piece of mind!

Hiya Sal

I believe the term is postural hypotension or low blood pressure. I suffer quite badly with this too

The blood pressure sensors are in your head and as you get up quickly the blood takes a little while to get up to your head so your body assumes your blood pressure is low and wants you to get low down again.

It will get easier in time post op. Just take your time getting up from the lying or seated position and climbing stairs etc.

Make sure you keep your hydration levels in order and you'll be fine chick. Low sodium levels can bring this on too I'm told by a fellow sufferer.

See you soon xxx

thanks Karlos i've been looking on google , it was saying low potassium levels all in all i don't think i'm gonna die ha ha

thanks hun see you weds

Thanks guys. I went through a rough patch last night really worried I was going to go blind or something silly! Haha. Either way I will increase my fluid intake, and concentrate on food containing lots of potassium today :) I am next due at the hospital on 2nd October so will find out then.
Thanks a lots guys....and Ive calmed down now! xx

Hi Salski - Karlos is correct on this, and he's right this is blood pressure, i get the same thing just after i've eaten and been sitting for a while, and like yourself the dizziness goes in about 30 seconds or so. It will get better, though i've never lost sight........... be safe and get checked out on this occassion by your GP or consultant just to be sure !
