Do I have to stop pill before op??

Hi- I was wondering if people had to stop taking the combined pill before surgery due to increased blood clot risk? I dont want to stop and was wondering what others were advised thanks

I would check with your clinic, but generally yes - I you have a date you could always go and swap to another form of long acting contraception such as the depo injection so you don't bleed post op...or get pregnant ! Good Luck x

I was told o could carry on taking mine, I'm on cerazette, and a few weeks after op I did go to the fpc as I was having very light bleeds, and the doc on site said it was ok, and still effective. If you want ease of mind speak to gp/fpc

Cerazette is the mini pill it's the combined one they said is problem and spoke to my gp he said the increased risk of blood clots is very low but at end of day it's my choice so not sure! Also how do you take the pill after the operation???

mine is small enough to carry on taking as normal, even the night of my op
