Hiya Hun yeah private dr said I wasn't fat enough for nhs :-( really hope they won't refuse my band how have you been since bypass? Xx

They could refuse yes but this would only be say if you have a medical condition that means an op would be dangerous, or if you don't weigh enough for their criteria. Also if you have any mental health problems that may need further treatment before surgery.

Good luck for Saturday! x

I think you'll be ok, I suffer from bipolar and didn't need a psychiatric assement at all, my psychiatrist thinks the op could actually help with some of my issues.
A lot of depression is caused by weight/self confidence problems , so anything that can help out with it is surely a good thing.
Try not to worry and lots of luck.
Em xxxx

Hi Kellsbellls - I had my consultation last Saturday - my BMI WAS 33 - 5ft 6 15 stones and I was approved - im going private with a band x

Kellsbells they may write to your GP for further details ... Don't worry about it now, as there is nothing you can do about it. Best just wait and see what the consultant says. Good luck x

Kellsbells!! I am also bipolar with severe depression, and I was fine, they were concerned about lithium absorption, but that was all, as long as you are stable on your meds, then you probably won't even need a psychiatric assessment. I didn't as I had my own psychiatrist for support.. good luck!! I am sure you will be fine xx

I have no idea. I was just giving examples of reasons for refusal that I'm aware of. One of which was a mental health problem requiring more treatment. My provider wrote to my doctor but it was just a case of letting them know.

Thank you I told dr this morning an she was fine with it my CBT therapist thinks its a good idea so will see on Saturday I did tell judith ( the lady on phone) an she said it shouldn't be a problem xx

Just wanted to wish you luck. Hopefully it will be fine, especially as your cbt therapist is behind it. I went privately and have OCD and major depressive disorder both are under control through medication and I've had cbt in the past too. My surgeon was fine with it as he agreed with my doctor that it would actually be beneficial to my mental health (which by the way it has been so far :)). So fingers crossed as you are under control too that it will be fine. Good luck, let us know how you get on :) xx
