Does anyone else have a fridge habit?

For some strange reason, everytime i walk in to my kitchen, i go straight to the fridge and open it. I stare in it for a while, then remember what i originally went in to the kitchen for and close the door. I know its habit from before i had the op, but i never really noticed it before, and its bizzare!

Yeah I do that, its sort of like what do I fancy type of thing from the old days.

Thankfully there isnt much in there now days that turns me on.:)

Yes i know mary, he is in the bedroom!

I'm training my brain... but do head for the 'fridge. Not feeling so hungry since hanging onto you all... plus I don't buy anything unhealthy at the minute... the whole family is on a diet... if they want to eat unhealthily... then they go and do it themselves... enough is enough... my hubby walked in with 3 chocolate orange eggs, he said were on offer for Christmas, he's hidden them, but I said don't bother bringing any more... as we need to change BIG Style...

Love and hugs xxx

i go to the fridge automatically to see what im gonna eat, dont fancy anything, look in cupboards, then back to fridge, and eventually ill find something, most of my food is in the fridge though, i dont have much in cupboards.

mona..
ha ha ...I do that.....lol
my OH believes that my brain is in the fridge and the bulb has hypnotic powers and is commanding my every move...
I go to the fridge....stare at the light....then mutter to myself and do the task I went into the kitchen for...lol

Snap Dawny - I get up (for example if i'm watching tv) to do something like go to the loo, but always seem to gravitate towards the kitchen and the fridge. If there's nowt in the fridge, then I rummage through the cupboards - I don't really want anything or fancy what's there and the purpose of me getting up wasn't to go to the kitchen in the first place - so its a definite habit/auto pilot thing.

I also have a bad habit of having something to eat or drink when I come home. Last night I had tea at my sisters - a lovely healthy meal which was sufficient to keep me full for the evening. I came home around 9.30pm and headed straight for the kitchen. I stopped myself before I could have any thing though - turned round and went to bed!

While I'm pre-op I'm working on recognising these habits so I've been writing down when I find it hard to resist snacking - looking at what I've been doing before hand/during and there are definite patterns emerging. My 'weakest' times seem to be when watching TV or reading. If my mind is occupied but my hands aren't I have trouble resisting the fridge - even if I'm fully engrossed in the programme or book. If my mind and hands are occupied I am fine and can go for hours without thinking of food. I wonder if its the same for smokers - eg the action of raising the ciggie(hand) to the mouth; I recall my mum always had to be figgeting with something when she packed in smoking.

Mebbe I just need to sit on my hands!

ha ha ha nova, its amazing just what we do when we're not focusing on something. i tend to buy stuff as well, but when ive got it home, i dont fancy it anymore, and even on the best of days, i struggle to eat enough, so i sit there trying to talk myself into fancying summat, cos ive got it in the fridge, its disgusting the amount of food ive had to throw out because its gone off by the time i get round to eating it. naughty naughty naughty dawny. lol. hugs x

I always check the fridge. Not sure why I do it really. My husband calls it mooching. Like "what are you up to, mooching again?". Cant help it. I do it at my Mums house too, have to look in the fridge and all her cupboards. It drives her mad because she thinks I am hungry and she cant understand that I am "just looking".

Lol.... I do it too, open the fridge have a mooch round the kitchen and then leave the kitchen :D weirdos the lot us us :D

i do it too but not my fridge (i must know theres nothing in ) i do it everytime i walk in my mums, i have no idea why i do it and i dont get anything out i just open it and look close the door and walk away - a couple of minutes later im back in there again

its a running joke in her house -

my other obsessive oddity is ear buds, i cant go past one without having to use one, friends houses and everything i have to even resist the lane in the supermarket where they are kept

See now i know we all look in the fridge, it's weird when you go back half hour later expecting the contents to have improved!!! Then you know you're weird xx
