Hi i know that Dottychic was a big smoker!!
I'm on day something or other & i'm struggling, on patches now after a week of cold turkey but getting stressed thought by now the urge would have started to go, but its just like food if i can't have it i want it more!!!! Any tips would be lovely thanks

stay strong sweetpea!! think of that op... x

Seawaves giving up anything that you get pleasure from and can have whenever/wherever you want is really hard. Congratulate yourself on how well you have done for the first week - it deserves recognition!

I've never smoked so can't advise about that but i know what an addiction is like and can understand how you are feeling now...

Firstly remember you will have less chance of infection after your op by not smoking. You will recover easier and (sorry but this bit is gross but is from my experience of spending time with my mom and sister) you won't smell like an ashtray! Sorry :( :(

Focus on your operation and go 'window' shopping online. Copy and save pictures of all the clothes you want to wear as you get smaller! Start an album on here, not only will it give you something to take your mind of the dreaded sticks but it will also show us nosey parkers what kind of dress style you follow :) In fact when you put your pics on you could put where you found them and how much they cost, we might find something we fancy there :)

Keep the strength and fight the demon fags, you know you want your operation and this is a small price to pay for the decades of extra healthy/slim life you will enjoy :) :) xx

I've never smoked either but i remember my friend had some liquid that she had to have everyday but you had to carry on smoking with it, eventually you hate the taste of the fags yourself (after a week i think.) It makes you feel sick and you'll deck out your fag (yourself) hence you give up smoking. Good luck hope ive made sense lol xxx

Meant to put she was a big smoker and gave up, sorry i don't know the name of the liquid xxx

I up until 2 weeks before my op was a 30 a day smoker. I used the electric cigarette as i failed on numerous occasions with the patches! I think it was the hand to mouth habit that the e cigarette gave me and they come in 3 strengths just like the patches. Only difference is that there is no nicotine in them so you can use them anytime. I also sucked sugar free lollipops a lot of the time again that hand to mouth habit. I viewed my surgery as my ultimate goal and when i really struggled i looked at my heaviest picture and that kept me going. Stay strong Em and maybe the e cigarette will help. Good luck Hun you are doing really well. Allie x
PS i only used the e cig for 2 weeks and have never used it again x

Allie, thanks i'm going straight to the chemist in the morning to get me one of those!! The way i see it, it can only help, well done to you by the way ;)

OOOO sorry I was watching BB :D Yea I smoked 80 a day  I know thats realllllly bad! I actually quit using Champix. They worked brilliantly for me. I actually had my second stroke whilst taking them and whilst in hospital I used to go outside with everyone who was smoking and it didnt even bother me!
I think which ever method you use you still need willpower. I knitted, read, did mosaics, anything that kept me busy really and that helped. The smoking cessation nurse told me a craving only lasts something like 3 minutes so if you can keep busy for that time it will pass.
It really does get easier, Its over 3 yrs for me now and I could still smoke sometimes but I just think "Nah" its not worth it and before I know it Ive forgotten about it :D
You can do this hun, just think of the op and how much you want it :D Good luck :D x

Thanks Dottychic, i love you more right now knowing your a BB fan!! Well i woke up this morning(always a good thing ha ha!) anyway i've got the day off of work so was a little stressed but i have been washing floors windows just keeping busy so as not to think about the fags also burning the calories as i go, so all in all feeling quite good at the moment, thanks again, if i need to shout i'll just get back on here :p

Good luck Em, sounds like you are doing well so far. If you run out of cleaning at yours just pop round to mine lol

Hiya Em
Well as you are being so busy, fancy coming down and cleaning my house and windows for me as I am a lazy so and so (mind you, thought that is why I had a man around, he HAS to go, lol).
I have had quite a few friends who have given up using Champix, maybe your doc could prescribe you some?
Will give you a call to catch up soon. My scales aren't moving, neither are my bowels ha ha.
Take care, love ya xxxx

Some people have side effects with Champix like sickness and stuff but I was fine with them, I swear by them now lol. Loads of people give up with patches and that aswell though. You seem to be doing really well.....the keeping occupied is one of the best things to do :D Keep it up hun, you will be a non smoker before you know it! X

After Mazza's house i got lots of jobs. My husband is a house husband but apparently this only involves the bits visitors get to see, for the record we have a downstairs dunny so they don't go upstairs... :) xx
