i am post bariactric surgery of 10 days, when can i drive again?
had surgery in L & D on the 29/11/11, thanks sue27

Hi Sue, once you feel well enough to drive, usually around 2 weeks post op, physically, you will need to check with your insurance co as some say 2 weeks but mine said 6 weeks  Best to be safe & know you are covered. :):)

Usual medical advice is when you can safely do an emergency stop;as insurance won't cover you until you can do this...for some it may be 2 weeks others 2 months depending on you surgery.
Good Luck

I was told 6 weeks after surgery.

i am 3 weeks out tomorrow and just started driving again yesterday. i didn't feel ready to drive after the 2 weeks. x

it depends on your body and how you feel but not before 2 weeks... my insurance company wont allow me to drive for 6 weeks, so check that out hun xx

My surgeon said around 4 weeks for driving but to check with insurers. They wanted to know how major the surgery was before they would advise. Checked back with team and they said treat it similarly to a hysterectomy and grade it as 'major +' surgery. With that info insurers agreed with surgeon at 4 weeks but must be able to do emergency stop - guess I'm going to have to find a quiet road to practice emergency stops sometime in January!
