i have seen people post on here about having dry skin post op & i have noticed mine getting dry the last day or so . my question is , is it ongoing or does it get better in time ?

im 7 weeks post opp and its been the last week i thought it could have been the sun ?
look forward to know if anyone can help

Yep I mentioned it a few weeks ago and still drying out lol. I'm using a lot of creams but doesn't help :( apparently it does get better but takes time and it helps if you drink a lot of fluids x

thanks Suzie , at the moment its mainly my ankles, wrists & face . guess i will have to moisturise then lol

Its like your hair, stands to reason its a big shock to the system so takes a while to right itself.

i was hoping that it was like hair & got better , thanks hun xx

Oh wow Dry Skin!! Another thing to look forward to post op lol!!!

I have bad eczema and use a moisturiser cream called Double Base gel. Can get it quite cheaply from eBay, works amazingly and better than any other moisturiser I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot lol).

Makes your skin feel greasy for a short time after applying but it disappears quickly.

Definitely worth trying.

I've noticed my eczema has worsened since op and I've had to use a lot of steroid cream on my hands. I've put it down to getting dehydrated quickly. So trying my hardest to maintain fluid intake :(
I also use DIPROBASE cream as its the only other cream that doesn't irritate.
Has anyone else noticed there eczema worsen? X

Looks like Iv got eczema on my elbows that's just come up a few weeks ago when I started drying out, also big cracks in my heals of feet and dermatitis in hands are getting worse also lots of dry skin on face. I'm falling apart lol. But I used to get seasonal eczema when I was a teenager but haven't had it for over 10 years and now got it on elbows :( so it's definitely due to surgery as all this has happened within days of each other. X

I've obviously been lucky as my skin is much, much better now than pre-op. I have not had any excema on my scalp, face or body since the op and have only had a little bit in my lady garden region ( where it's usually it's worst), have no dry skin and no spots. I put it down to drinking more water, exercising and moisturising everything like a demon !

I use E45 in the bath. It moisturises my skin all over. Without it I got dry itchy skin, before or after op.

I also suffer from eczema and I don't really like to use the steroid creams until I have to. I find using palmers cocoa butter daily and bio oil when it gets worse usually keeps it under control. I also wash with Johnson's baby products can't use soap really dries my skin out even Dove.
