hi all
please be gentle
can anyone tell me if its normal to still be a bit emotional and down sometimes. i realise everyone gets down but you know how you all make me feel better. today went to get my bike and should feel great but just been in tears and dont really know why.
brother came and think i wanted to go home with him which didnt help.
a friend said its all the op and complications etc, can it still be that even now?
thanks everyone
ps-cpn on 5th which will help. xx

Hi Mandy, have no worries hun it is totaly normal, I often had a good cry for no reason, your body has been through major surgery and is healing and you are re-educating yourself on a new eating habit and it takes some time to get used to so it is natural to feel a bit down and weepy now and then hun xxx

Don't know Mandy as I am pre-op but just wanted to say be kind to yourself, don't worry so much and I'm sure you will be telling us all how fab you feel!! Take care x

thanks lisa that really helps xx
thanks leanne, one day ill stop worrying xx

yep its normal and something most if not all us post oper's have been and are still going through x xx

Mandy I have emotional days out of the blue sometimes and people think I am a strong person... Yesterday I had a day of feeling sorry for myself as I struggled to eat anything and was just having a day when pouchy didnt want to accept anything I gave it. It was one of those (very rare) what the hell have I done days.

Have had a much better day today, and when I do have a what have I done day I only need to step on the scales to realise that the highs outweigh the lows by far xx

Mandy,

I have been there, yes even us guys have bad days. Eventually it leaves and all the doubts about the surgery fade. Christmas was bad for me and I was sick just because I over ate and should not have done. My first Christmas with the operation's consequences has been and gone and I am still loosing weight and fitting clothes I never thought I would get into again.

That in itself makes up for all the down times.

U

I am sure it is normal to feel like this after the op Mandy. I think most people have down days even if they haven't been through what you have. Remember everything you have been through and remember you have come out the other end you just need to be a little more positive now because I know you can do it. I know what it feels like to think you will never come out the other side of depression but honestly you do. Good luck.

Hun, I'm still pre-op, and if you're anything like me then before your op you probably had good days and bad, right?? I figure the same will happen to me post-op! The op doesn't change that! Obviously in the first few months post-op I would imagine you have a few more bad days than before but that will soon pass!! The op won't diminish these feelings completely (sadly!!) but hopefully it'll give you a few more things to smile about!!!

Hi Mandy. I tried to reply on the other forum you and I belong to but am having trouble logging on to it tonite.
I don't have my operation till 4 Feb but from the information I've read from various sources, what you are experiencing is normal. Your body has gone through an enormous ordeal and your hormones are all over the place. It will take time to recover and start feeling like 'you' again. Don't be so hard on yourself. Listen to your body and if you want to cry, scream, shout....whatever.........jolly well do it!!!! You have embarked on a new lease of life so keep focussed on that and congratulate yourself on having the courage to change your life. I hope 2010 brings you health and happiness and everything else you wish for. All the best. X

Hi Mand - oh sweetheart it's sooooo normal to be up one minute and come crashing down the next. In some medical circles they reckon it takes about 12 months to get over the anaesthetic and the trauma of having the op that's why our emotions are all over the place and why we lose hair, our skin is dry etc.

We will all have different symptoms at varying strengths and that is why it is good just to get it off your chest and share with us here. We may be able to give you good advice we may not be able to help at all - but you know you are never alone as we are all here 'anytime, anyday anywhere'. So keep asking your questions and letting us know how you feel for as long as you want to sweetheart. You are doing so well and have made great progress so far and i look forward to seeing how you get on in 2010.

Sending you special hugs with fairy dust to keep you smiling xx
