Endoscopy Post Bypass

Fading Grace

Fading Away
I was wondering if there's anyone here who has had an Endoscopy post op?
I went for my 6 week check up today and I was told I have to have one and a balloon inserted to enlarge my hole (damn, sounds so rude!) :8855:
Anyhoo.. can anyone tell me what to expect?
Am I in and out of the hospital on the same day?
Do I then have to go back to the liquid diet?
I'm such a nubnub I should have asked the nurse all of this but I was in shock when she told me I had to have one that my mind went blank
Thanks in advance. On the plus size I've lost 4.5 stone in 8 weeks so yay! :banana dancer:

Oh dear am so sorry to hear that if they are trying to widen the hole with a baloon you might have to stay in but i'm not sure, were you not given the name n numba of the lead bariatric nurse on your preop papers, so you could ring tomorrow n check? Have a look you might find a one then ask so you can put your mind at rest.xx

Hey Chrisa,
No the nurse said she would email Mr Pring that day to explain that I'd need an Endoscopy. She did say I'd be given a sedative so I'm guessing I won't need to be knocked out.
I've done a bit of Googling and found a video showing how it's all done, it looks fairly straight forward so I'm a bit calmer now :)

Oh that's a shame you have to have that done but at least that should help you with your problem...I take it you are still struggling to keep things down? I'm not sure if it's different post bypass but I had one a few years back for something separate and it was a day thing. In early morning and home in the early evening once you've had time to sleep off the sedative. If they offer the choice of a sedative or just s spray at the back of the throat, take the sedative, it's got amazing memory loss effects and you don't actually fall asleep as such but you won't remember what happened which I found great. Like I said it might be different post op but hopefully it should be a simple as that. If worried give the nurse a ring as I'm sure she will be happy to tell you the procedure. Best of luck :) x
