Excuse me for being thick

Providers all do different but ultimately it's to realign your body to your new tool and gradually increasing density of food ensures we don't damage it...remember your band hasn't had food go through it either! All just a settling in period to my knowledge. Last think you want is to risk slippage, it needs to get get firmly embedded in your body without being put under pressure from solids xx

Yeah I agree with Jo - the guidelines are there to help (It shouldn't slip so early on...its actually stitched into place- have a look on YouTube- it shows the operation!!) But everything needs to heal and settle down and you'll have LOT of swelling which makes liquids and mushies hard to get through. Don't irritate it all with spikey dense food! And don't do what I did and drink really cold fluids to start with. Your stoma (the hole in the middle) doesn't like cold - I tried to drink a slushpuppy the first week and nearly had an episode in a garden centre where it almost came back up through my nose! (It was July and very warm)
Small steps,Small sips, warmish fluids but plenty of them and then mushy anything really. Good luck :)
