Fastab....just a question

Hi Everyone

Just wondered when you take your Fastab.
I am a bit confused becuase when I was in hospital they gave it to me around lunchtime yet the prescription say to be taken 30-60mins before food. Is this before breakfast?
I would ask my GP but I haven't got an appointment for repeat prescription yet (new GP), so just wondered when you take yours?

I keep mine on the bedside table and have it soon as I wake up.

I take mine as soon as I get up before taking any other meds. But in hospital I did get it at lunchtime! I'm sure they had their reasons lol.

And a question - while it says avoid food for 30 mins do you think it's okay to drink water - or might that flush it through your pouch too quickly?

What is Fastab? and whats its purpose? Really interested to learn about all these things. x

Fastab is lanzaprazole, it's to protect your stomach from ulcers. It's a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) and basically reduces the production of gastric acids.

Ha ha,

Caren, we have all been caught out like that. :D x

I actually take mine at night as I used to take lanzaprazole (or rennie before that) at night. I used to suffer my acid reflux after I had laid down for the night.

I take mine first thing with my Forceval is this ok do you think?

Thanks for all your replies.
I have been taking mine at lunchtime as per hospital but as of tomorrow will start take first thing.
I really don't like the taste when it dissolves and it kind of leaves a residue in your mouth....so I have to have a bit of water afterwards or rinse with mouthwash (blimey, I'm a right bloomin fussy moaning Minnie!!)
