I had a bypass but there must be a good reason to wait say for your body to get used to having the band in there in the first place.Sure you will be fine.

i agree there must be a reason behind leaving you so long, but if its getting you down can you not phone your providers and maybee ask for a fill a bit earlier if you are feeling no restrictions.?? hope you can get this sorted as its hard enough without feeling low and left for to long. xxx

I don't know why they are leaving u so long! I had my first fill 6 weeks after my op and just had another one in week 11 last week

Try not to let it get you down. Two weeks will fly by. Stick to the rules and the weight should come off anyway. The band may just make it that bit easier. X

Once you get a fill you will love it!! I have 7ml in my 10ml band and I'm only just feeling great about it all now

Agree with elarkins, took me 5 months of been down with no restriction but once you hit that sweet spot it makes all the difference. Keep heart and like Michelle said two weeks ll fly by and in the meantime eat of a side plate slowly and crunchy food so you are into good heating habits because one restriction comes in and you try to shovel food down too quickly or too much you will be regretting it! Believe me I know what I am talking about :p

Dunno hun...wish i never bothered...might have well tried a slimming club...feel starving hungry no restiction and slowly putting on weight again...totally fed up with the whole thing...from start to finish...all i hope is when band filled it works :(

Its a shame you feel this way, I'm not sure what your expectations were but fills are not started until at least 6 weeks post op. If you use the time inbetween to make the changes to your diet / exercise regime to make the band work it will stand you in good stead.

A fill or a number of fills will not help you change the way you eat, you need to do that. The band, fills and restriction will help you to eat less but you decide of what.

You say you are hungry, what are you eating, are you following your post op diet? - band friendly meals will not leave you feeling hungry even with no fill.

Sometimes it seems that NHS patients dont have the same access to aftercare as a private patient does but you have your appointment now and it will soon be here.

Lets just put this into perspective, each journey is different - putting a first fill into a four week , six week or longer box won't fit all.

I was booked in for my first fill around 6 weeks post op BUT I didn't have one. I was however eating so much less than pre op and eating the type of foods I was advised to.

Don't be in such a hurry for 'restriction' take the time to get used to your band and how to work with it xx

Thats why I had a band too! and as I said each journey is different.

How did your dietician appointment go?

I totally agree with miserable. Just hang in there and don't expect too much until you start having a few fills done. I've had a band for 5 years but its only since I've been receiving the proper aftercare this past few months, that I've actually realised how much it can help. Before that, I had to rely on sheer willpower and that wasn't what I paid all that money for. Just try and maintain for now and get into the habit of eating band-friendly food xxx
