feeling really down

Not weight related but the other burden in life , money .
Don't know how I did it but my budgeting was way off mark last month , not being helped by being paid before Xmas , so I now find myself more broke than broke .
It's only the 6th Jan & already had 2 DD's bounce , so there will be more :'( I'm doing extra shifts , but won't get that money for 2 weeks & in the mean time I still have to feed the 3 of us

oh honey bless your heart i wish i could give you some money, but im in exactly the same boat, ive got to scrounge from my mum for direct debits till my dole money comes god i hate being out of work! I just keep telling myself that we have to have the bad time to appreciate the good times. Phone the people who's dd have been returned, they really are understanding and will give you time, as long as they know. Good luck honey mwah xxx

I hate money (or lack of it ) at this time of year after christmas etc and the bills never get easier just go up every year i always look forward to feb when no council tax or water rates to pay for two months but then my gas and elec are more because of the usage over christmas and bloody cold months. sorry i didn't help but feel better myself now to get that off my chest

January is just the worst month ever... i do feel for you, being a single parent myself i know where your coming from... i was in the same situation last january... i rung the companies and explained that i couldnt pay the full amount that month... as long as you offer to pay..say £2 then they cannot touch you... give them a ring hun.... cos just deafualting can cause extra bank charges xx good luck hun xx

if you have a returned non payment of direct debit check how much your bank charges for this because you will need to make sure they are covered next month or it will all happen again xx from experience learned the hard way sometimes a bank takes charges out after the next month as they usually send you a letter they are charging so please just be careful

Really doesn't help that my kids just want all the time , my eldest owes me £215 but rather than pay me back she will give me £10 , pay for her laptop to be fixed & get clothes with her Xmas money . When her phone stops working cos the bill isn't paid she might realise . I have told her before I'm short , but she just doesn't get budgeting & won't let me show her cos its boring . They really should teach it in school !!!

i definitely agree they should teach household budgets in school but unfortunately we do fall into the trap of the kids need this and that etc but they really don't ( they only WANT them )i am on a debt management plan now and have learned that i have to say no and mean it

Yes I'm on a plan too , thanks mainly to debts left me by the ex . Loans taken out to pay off his debts but as in both our names I got lumped with them when he disappeared grrrr
Also not helped by dropping to part time from full time , a loss of about £4-500 a month

So sorry you are having a tough time, Cheryl lovely Bank charges are crippling & what starts off as a couple of returned DD's escalates the following month as once the bank take their charges, it leaves you short for that months payments If you know that others will be returned, cancel them & contact the companies to arrange to pay them direct until you get your finances under control again. It gives you a chance if you are not paying exorbitant bank charges. As for teenagers understanding finances, well you could knit fog easier than getting them to take an interest, lol ... but we have all been one & I was a really selfish teen bless my mum & dad Hope you manage to sort it, which a few phone calls will do xxx

bloody ex's and debts ggggrrrrrr and i had to go part time as well because of my illnesses although the doctor wanted me to stop all together , god knows what i'd be like then

My being full time was to cover a secondment , when the year was up I was hoping to stay full time , but due to my sickness record they wouldn't let me . Most of the sickness was headaches which I now know were due to the sleep apnoea . Usually I caught every cold going , but since wearing cpap no headaches or colds . They have said once my record improves it will be concidered for me to go full time again , but I suspect it will only concidered after my op

I think we've all been there, money or lack thereof is the root of a lot of problems Costs are forever rising and salaries are forever staying the same! My ex ditched me a couple of years back and left me with £40k debt, needless to say I went bankrupt. As a result I can't get a normal bank account and now have one of those managed accounts. My money goes in each month, they keep to one side (away from my grubby mitts!!) enough to pay my bills and whatever is left gets transferred onto a card account. No more bounced DD or standing orders and I used to have A LOT of those!!!

January is always a rubbish month cos it's always so long! Most companies will understand that hun so give them a ring and explain your situation to them, see if they can hold off a couple of weeks until your next pay day. Or maybe the bank will give you a short term overdraft till the end of the month?

Thing is I have money due in in about 2 weeks time .
