hi Kp the secret to the liquid diet is lots of fluid on top of yr allowed milk. i found making myself milky coffees throughout the day made with half milk and water the best way for me.
By day 3 you will feel full of energy as you go into ketosis but please keep yr fluids up

I'm not on the liquid diet yet, just a pre op diet to lose 5% of my weight before surgery. The first three days were the hardest and I had a premanent headache from detoxing and like you felt dizzy. It soon became much easier and I do feel more energetic.

Hopelesscase, I keep hearing the word Ketosis but am not sure what it is, could you enlighten me please? Many thanks! :)

I haven't done the milk diet (yet!) I like milk but I see that lots of people find it hard to drink "straight". But I see that in some versions of it you are allowed a pint of Sugar Free Jelly which could help a bit.

I have started doing something that I remember from my chidlhood and making up a pint of jelly with about 1/4 pint of boiling water and then making it up to a pint with milk rather than water. I find it really tasty done that way and a bit more interesting than a straightforward jelly (it's like a nice milk desert) and it's a good way of using up about 3/4 pint of your daily allowance.

The only thing is that you have to make sure that the hot mixture has cooled down completely before you add the cold milk. If you don't, it curdles really badly!

Just a small thing but a nice treat.

Ketosis:

When fat is burned rapidly, the body produces substances from the fat called 'ketones' and the person is said to be in 'ketosis'. The mild ketosis produced by the diet formula has a number of advantages for dieters: hunger is reduced and a feeling of well-being is often experience.

Ketones can be detected in the urine of dieters and provides encouragement than body fat is being burned. Ketones can sometimes be detected on the breath. This is only temporary and can be reduced by adequate water intake and mouth rinsing with a mouthwash (i.e. Oraldene, Listerine)

Hi

I am 10 days into my pre op diet (Milk Diet). The first day I was exactly the same as you. Dizzy and headachey. The 2nd day I had energy like never before. I went shopping and didn't feel that hungry and still dont. So yes it will get easier.

Good luck with you op x :D:D

i hated first few days on milk diet came close to fainting a few times but after that felt great and found it very theraputic in adjusting to not eating

Hi kp it looks like were on the same diet. I was told that I had to use weight watchers soups (yuk) I think it might be because of the levels of salt in ordinary tins. I wouldnt mind so much if it was ordinary soup I quite like cream of tomato lol.

I'm on day one, not done too bad, just had a wibble when I smelt the family eating their evening meal but I'll ive :)

Hi Mini, do I need to keep a check on the ketones level?? If so can you buy a kit from the pharmacy. Kind regards .

could some 1 tell me what the milk doet is please...????

The milk diet is either

4pt milk
1-2 low fat yogurts
1-2 oxo cubes
and free sugar free fluids (tea and coffee included)

or

2pt milk
3-4 low fat yogurts
1-2 oxo cubes
and free sugar free fluids (tea and coffee included)

The sugar free fluids can include cordial, diet cola's basically anything sugar free. Some people make sugar free jelly as it has the same contents as a sugar free squash. Something to chew on whilst on the diet.
