Got date for first appointment today at Homerton. Ok so it's not until October but it gives me something to work towards and at least I'm on my way.

Hi and good luck xxx

welcome and good luck

Good luck Res I am attending Homerton and they have been great. Try and attend the support group the 3rd Thursday of every month, the next being 21st August. You will have the opportunity to meet Pre and Post WLS patients. Good luck with your journey and keep us posted.

I have just got my 1st appointment yay!! Although its not until 7th Nov at Royal Bournemouth Hosp told over the phone and letter with details will arrive in post. I was very lucky that I rang them to see if they got referral after two weeks to find no referral sent from GP. So I got intouch with surgery who assured me had been sent to find it hadn't so I asked for letter to be faxed. Then I left it until late afternoon then rang hospital who said they had received referral and I would get answer in a week which I have. I must say the hospital have been very friendly and helpful and it their suggestion to have surgery fax it through! Are there any of RBH that can tell me what took place on their 1st visit? I don't know if the letter will explain everything or just appointment details. So excited to be on the 1st run of the ladder :0)

It's exciting isn't it I'm just waiting for my first appointment, I have spoke to someone though who is said at the first appointment you go for the day and see a nurse, dietician, consulton and a group session but that's at homerton in London so don't know if it differs at different hospitals. Good luck with first appointment x

Hi everyone!
Hope you don't mind me gate crashing!
When you talk about waiting for first appointment are you referring to the Tier 3 weight management programme?? If so I'm also at this stage pretty much- had my first appointment 5wks ago with nutritionalist, then had psychologist assessment about 3 wks ago, and got 2nd appointment with nutritionalist tomorrow at 2pm. I am in Southampton.
I am just desperate to know if I'm going to be offered surgery at the end of it!! I'm 130kg and BMI IS 46.
Would love to keep in contact with some people at a similar stage as me and to share experiences etc! Xx

Hello, I'm in Portsmouth, having my first appointment this friday, the letter came about 2 weeks after the GP sent referral with a bunch of papers and questionnaires and saying I should expect to be there up to 3 hours. So I think it is a bit similar of the one you received. I can tell how it goes. But bear in mind is not the same hospital so it can be different.

I would love to keep in contact too! The way mine reads is that it's a group session first but obviously I don't know until I go on the 7th. Also I didn't get any paperwork to fill in perhaps I'll do that on day!

Thank you! X

My BMI is 44 and I am diabetic so keeping my fingers crossed that surgery comes sooner rather than later! Would love to keep in contact though compare journeys

Hi! Just read through some of my old posts and thought I'd see how you are getting on? I have completed the tier 3 now, waiting my paperwork from that but spoke to GP anyway last week and she has said that she is happy to refer me to surgery if that's what I want as long as paperwork shows I attended all my tier 3 appointments (which I did, even though I put on 7lb on that!!). So fingers crossed I will get accepted for funding and have the go ahead!

How about you?xx
