...And Im scared to death! What if I say the wrong thing and they turn me down?!

I had to jump off these forums while I was waiting, as I was referred middle of last year from endocrinology and was getting really down just sitting about waiting to hear anything.

They sent me a huge pack last week with a psych questionnaire, plus all the surgery options. I'm hoping to get a sleeve. My endocrinologist thought I'd be sure to get band funding and that they'd push for me, but I really want a permanent change with less complication. I know that the band takes lots of adjusting, can be knocked out of place and it's removeable.. I want something that helps me to change my whole way of life forever. I have a four year old with cerebral palsy and he has noooo consideration for personal space or being gentle most of the time, so I'm scared he'd knock the band out all by himself :eek:

What should I expect from tomorrow?
What's the best surgery option in your opinions?
Is there anything I might panic and say that would totally ruin funding chances?

*bites nails off in panic*

Please dont panic they are there to support you, not try and trip you up!
Each WLS brings different solutions I had the bypass as like you said I wanted something that was forever encouraging me with my life changes I wanted for myself and the band as much as it may work wrll for others I didnt fancy all the to-ing and throw-ing getting the band filled and deflated before getting to a happy spot
may I suggest you write down your concerns and any other questions that pop into your head and take that with you I guess they would have heard every question under the sun so no question is strange or far out!
Let us know how it all went very good luck

They won't make a decision about surgery based just on one visit. There's so many variables so just go and be yourself. You'll probably find there's a lot of assessments and prep for surgery so you can discuss your particular circumstance and situation with the team and come up with the best solution.

Thank you both! I guess ive just been building this up in my mind for 6 months, so now the appointment is on top of me I'm basically about to explode ha ha :D

Hi Starduck, I had my first appt at Worcester Royal at the end of April. I was nervous too!

It was a joint meeting with the Bariatric Nurse and Specialist Dietician.

We just spoke about what had led me here and what did I want to achieve. They weighed me and gave me loads of bumpf about different surgeries.

They said by my next appt (which is 1st May!) they wanted me to have researched it all and to come armed with all my questions.

They said I'd spend 6 months seeing them before being referred to surgeons. I really enjoyed it :)
