Hi all. Advise from pro bandits needed.
Had first fill on Monday - topped up from 5 to 7 in a 14ml -

Soooo... Is it normal that I eat about 5 spoonfuls and can't manage any more... And that it feels like food sitting on chest? And don't feel like eating for about 4/5 hours!!!

I've never been sick, and have no problems getting anything down .... Is this how it feels????

Might be making a total t@t of myself lol!!!!

Sounds good to me! I have 7.5ml in an 11ml band and can eat as much as I like, it sounds as though you have reached the restriction we are all hoping for, xx

It should be that the small amount of spoonfuls will leave you feeling full as that is the point of the band :)

However, it shouldn't feel like it is sitting in the chest - that would suggest that you've either eaten too much so that you're feeling overly full (you should not eat until you feel full!) or that you've eaten too quickly and haven't waited between each mouthful to allow the food to go down and be digested correctly.

If you are taking a mouthful, chewing for 20 or 30 seconds, wait for 20 or 30 seconds to allow the food to pass through, this will then also help the stomach send the brain signals when you're full which will also then help you to not overeat so you feel overly full - but still only eat for a maximum of 20 mins :)

It is good that you have the restriction that you do and don't want to eat for 4-5 hours. I'm 13 months out and have NEVER felt that yet as I'm still waiting to find restriction with my band! And am also now at 11mls in a 14ml band and still do not have it!

If you were having issues being sick or getting food down, that would suggest there is a potential with over restriction, but it sounds as if you've reached a good spot. Slow down the eating, chew lots to allow digestion and it should take that heavy feeling away, especially if you reduce the portion sizes a little.

Eat off a side plate, small knife and fork and chew :) but yes, if you dont feel like eating, and don't feel the hunger, this is what restriction is :)

Thanks ladies.

I think you might be right that I'm eating to quick.

Need to give time to just eat and not multi task!!
Just had the biggest burp and feel better lol.

Feel re assured now. And also lucky that or seems to be working so well already. 44lb off as well.

I read on here about you head not catching up with your body.... Already soooo true.

Really grateful for advice. Xx

If you can sit down to eat and really focus on the time you're chewing, slowing it down, (our provider provides us with an egg timer to follow the 30/30/20 rule!) it can really help with digestion. Also, because it takes 20 mins for the receptors in your stomach to tell the brain you're full, eating a morsel each minute means you only have very minimal amounts.

I struggle with this because of my lack of restriction and the fact I can eat a full size meal if I chose to. But with the extent of the restriction you have this is a great time to limit what you eat too :)

It will of course wear off, but you will be able to see it more because you'll see when you're feeling hungrier and that the time after eating that you feel full will reduce. Its not so easy when you eat and are still hungry lmao :)
