First time sipping liquids

What does it feel like taking your first sip? Are there any soreness while taking that initial sip? And were you able to walk around on day two?

when i had my surgery (bypass ) sipping felt uncomfortable but not sore, and yes i was able to walk around on day two, they prefere it then it helps to get rid of and trapped wind from your surgery. have you had surgery yet?? and what type??, if so speedy recovery and well come to the site. x

What goes inyour mouth and down your throat feels exactly the same as preop.Its only when it gets to your pouch it slows and can stick,just take things easy.The nurses gave me big cheapo paracetamol for pain relief and they went down no probs.I was done at 5pm and up first thing for a wash etc next day.You feel tight and abit uncomfortable but its ok.My back pain was cos I had a big hernia repair,didnt have any wind,air pain at all.oes take quite a few weeks for the tummy swelling to go down.

It felt weird too me, not painful or sore. Still get the plughole sounding lol.......Par for the course really xx

And were you able to walk around on day two?

I was down the shops on day 2 LoL - Didnt carry anything mind and walked to a speed I felt comfortable. Dont overdo it if u feel pain hun xx

I had an open bypass at 12 o'clock (approx) on the 10th of June 2010, at 9am on the 11th of June i was in the shower unaided and by 4pm i was sitting waiting for discharge meds.... However i'm a stubborn old boot. Pottering around your own home won't hurt but listen to your body and you wont' go far wrong. As for sipping, if it is a sip you should be okay, just don't rush it xx

I didn't have any problems with my first few sips just took it very slow and I was required to walk an hour after my surgery....

Was sipping fluid couple of hours after op and up and about following day went home 48hrs after being admitted i was well impressed.

i am now 2 days post op. very sore to my abdominal area but otherwise feeling fine. fluids are going down just fine with no pain. just had a little milk and that was ok.
