Flying

I'm flying to Barcelona tomorrow and wondering if anyone else has flown with a Band and if so did they have any restriction or complications?

Also getting nervous about eating out in a restaurant for a first time since being banded, any advise would be much appreciated x:eatdrink017::eating:

My BFF always says her restriction increases after flying, so stick to looser foods initially to see how you are x

You may notice a difference in it being tight, but you shouldn't eat food on the plane. My provider advises liquids only for 3 hours pre-flight, liquids only during flight and then slowly returning back to foods after landing.

There is someone I know from here who doesn't come here very often, who did eat on the plane and it caused some serious irritation to the stomach and band that it caused a lot of pain. Your own provider may give different advice in terms of timings, so always best to check with them, but its only a short flight and airline food is appalling anyway, so I'd pick up some liquids airside, even if its a milkshake or slimfast in Boots thats already made up until you get to the other side. :)

Thank you top kat, I will make sure I don't eat for three hours before hand, and only a slimfast later in the day. I am a nervous flyer and never eat on the plane in case I get sick like I did once before due to nerves!. Well I better go and pack my bag for my romantic weekend away with the hubby!. :)

I had no problem and I flew regularly with my band. No increase or change in restriction.

Also my good friend who flew frequently long haul with band had no problems.

My advice, suck it and see!! 3hrs with liquids could well make you feel more anxious and stressed.

Enjoy yourself!!

Thanks Skinimum, will try it on the return journey as don't want to ruin the weekend. Staying in a hotel tonight so will have a good breakfast in the morning and then fly at 4pm so will wait till we land until we eat again.

Back from my holiday, did not eat on the journey out, but tried half a sandwich on the way back and it seemed ok, so no restriction!
