Food on the go?

I'm just wondering what everyone eats when they are out of the house for lunch stop like when shopping or visiting friends and relatives?

Bread makes me feel uncomfy, but sandwichs just seem the easy choice. I've been having wraps which a easier, but especially this week I want to cut the carbs to see if helps with my weight loss!

Cheers x

Hiya

What about fruit - the ultimate take away?

I sometimes carry 2 satsumas and an apple to work with me, although I have been known to walk around with a slowly bruising apple for days, a satsuma usually hits the spot.

Or you can buy a ready made fruit salad.

I generally don't eat when I'm out - a carry over from my intense embarrassment from when I was much bigger, but I'm ok with fruit or salad - but salad is way harder to eat while actually walking ;-P

I carry around a small container of nuts & dried berries. Nuts are good carbs and provide protein too.

Ahh forgot about nut's and dried fruit...not freak you out but, I bought a bag of dried fruit from Sainsburys the other day and didn't realise it was sweetened - the first ingredient was sugar!!! So that was a waste of a quid!

Just remember to read the labels...before you buy it d'oh:rolleyes:

I tend to have babybel cheese just in case...and have just discovered Atkins bars, whgich are portable. If in a cafe, I have a jacket potato and then just scrape out the insides....with tuna or cottage cheese.

cheese, nuts, fruit, crackers,

Thanks everyobe for your replies. I cant do nuts but cheese babybels sound good. And satsuma's, easy to carry too.

I've not heard about these atkins bars? Where do you buy them from and do they have protein in? x

peanuts are good, fruit, crunchy veg sticks, humous, erm...biltong...erm...stuck lol

high in protein. low in fat and sugar! yummy.........get them from Boots, pharmacy sections of supermarkets, or online. They taste like chocolate bars....but aren't !:D

Yeah its pure protein, very little fat, a small bag is something like 60grms of protein x

Ooooh I love biltong!!

Atkins bars are available in most supermarkets, boots etc usually in the slimming aisle.

I have the mini pepperami's & fridge raiders.

Oh sorry - I don't normally judge something I haven't tried - but I just googled Bitlong and I'm afraid it looks awful lol.

Is it a bit like beef jerky?

Yes, I'm very careful - I buy my nuts and dried fruit from the farm shop where they are unadulterated by sugar, salt, flavourings or any other additives. I buy berries as they're better than other fruits, and I mix everything together wth pumpkin seeds.

Sorry guys - yeah biltong is like jerky. Very chewy so a bag lasts forever and as I say its very low fat and high protein. It is also quite expensive but as I say its lasts for ages.
I know costco do multipacks of it and tesco's and asda do individual bags of it.

HTH XX

Hmmm I might give the biltong a go after this week as Im still on purees  XX

It really is dried strips of beef so I would wait a little while as it is soooo chewy and may give you problems until you are on full solids xx
