Morning all,

Can anyone tell me if their GP applied for their funding direct to the PCT and then referred them to a surgeon.

Thanks

My Gp applied for funding, I was told by the hospital that they have to do it. I was already being seen by the surgeon though by then. Hope this helps. :D X

Thanks Jaquie, Hope you are well. It is really driving me insane as everyone keeps giving differing information. It must be the stigma surroung WLS no-one seems to want to help.

will post and let you know what GP said.

i dont know when my funding was applied for, or who actually applied for it, i just know it was there, when i asked prof ammori at one of my appointments, he said, you WILL be having your op dont worry about it. everyone else there seemed to be worrying about getting theirs, so i dont know, i guess i was just extremely lucky.

My GP got the funding before she even sent me to my first meeting. I had to wait about 6 weeks for the outcome, but glad its been done this way instead of me going through everything the past year and getting a no. Im on the 18 weeks waiting list now. I should have op Feb 2011. hows your GP done yours hun? x

I am Derby - my GP applied for funding direct to PCT. She said that the rules had recently changed. I was refused at first, but I appealed and got it. I have comorbidity, and thats what got it for me. They are being very strict now. I see that your BMI is over 50, so I hope you are successful Lin

My obesity consultant applied & successfully got my funding; perhaps your GP could phone the PCT & find out if he can apply directly for you? At least if either you of your Dr speak to someone at the PCT, you can get it directly from the horses mouth as it were xxx

I would write a strong worded letter to be put in with your application..I think vron did one for her funding??(please correct me if I am wrong vron..lol)
